  1. I use a very similar pattern to this on a size 16-18 when ants are working. I tie it in black. I never hit the river in the fall without them. I may have to try this colour. Great looking fly.
  2. Very Nice...now I'm off to tie me a few.
  3. I never thought of that...just tie a smaller version...I'll have to try that sometime.
  4. I have also tied these with white veils and some with small white tails. I'll try to add pics of those tonight.
  5. I hope if anyone else ties them, they let me know how they work. It killed em for me in dirty water. I just tied 10 more last night. My eyes are burning now.
  6. You're off to a great start. Go on YOUTUBE as there are tons of fly tying videos that will teach the basics. Glad you're already catching fish with your flies. You'll be addicted soon if you're not already. Go look through Youtube...you'll finds tons of good help on this forum also. Good Luck.
  7. Amazing look but how would you fish it...just wiggle on the bottom????? I love it.
  8. I'd try for more natural looking body cover like guinea feather and then use jungle cock feather for eyes. They look good but I go for the more natural look. Need better focus on the pictures if possible.
  9. Use an 18 ant pattern or nymph. Cast it under any bridge and I'm sure you'll get something.
  10. Yes...keep the glue gun close to the hook and make a small drop. Then I slowly lift the gun away. The point left behind will mold back into the drop and then I quickly dip it in cold water. That's why I hold the hook with forceps. I give it a quick blow then start the next egg. It doesn't have to be dry to continue. You get little fine strings of glue at times but as you can see in the picture, that give the eggs a vein like texture. It'll take a few practise hooks but you'll get it soon enough. I have also made larger salmon sized singles. Just look for coloured glue sticks and you're set. I use mainly orange and pink in this area. Let me know if you give it a try and are having trouble. They're quick to tie and fun once you get the hang of it. they really work well too...I out fished 3 others in early season on a tough fishing day.

  13. I love it...I'm going to tie some tonight for fishing steelies next week....
  14. As Steelhead season is upon us, I wanted to start a Steelhead fly swap (wet fly only). After reading the rules, I can't host a SWAP as I have not participated in 3 Swaps on FTF yet. (I'm new to the site). I have done these swaps within tying clubs and they are fun. Now I'm posting this hoping a qualified SWAPMEISTER will get the urge to host such a swap. Once I qualify, I'll definately host swaps. Just an idea and hopes.
  15. Don't forget the skunk patterns. I like the green butt skunk but tie it with a soft hackle.
