  1. Just wanted to say hello, and that the popper looks good. I noticed the name of your fly and thought to myself " i know that mountain." Turns out we live in the town... little old Sedro-Woolley. Do you call this popper the sauk mountain popper because you use it on the ponds at the golf course?
  2. Well i was not thinking of flies, but more of a lead head marabou style jig....I dont do to much fly fishing for salmon but thought a jig swap would be cool. If no one is interested I understand...
  3. recently I have met the requirements to bhost my own swap. I am awaiting approval, but had an idea for a swap. With salmon season upon us I have recently started tying lead head jigs. I was wondering if there would be any interest in swaping salmon jigs....If not I will come up with another idea....
  4. Ready for the addy. Should be on there way monday....
  5. you guys are all fast tiers. With all that is going on this weekend i have not got around to tying any flies, but I promise they will be in by the due date...

  8. I too am ready for your address. I tied my poppers in red. I tied 3 dozen and kept the best 12.....
  9. Nice, I bet we all tie them in the same color....
  10. Foam is one of my favorite materials to use for bluegill flies, they last long and stay afloat longer than most other materials. My orange crush is made with foam as well. I hate to be a pain but I think I am gonna change my patter to a foam popper rather than the slider. the reason being while fishing today I couldnt pay for a bite on my sliders but as soon as the popper hit the water I couldnt keep them off...
  11. I think i have decided on a size 10 foam slider....
  12. hey smalltown, that is awesome... I am ready to start tying. Also, I wanted to sugest that if you use my idea as a swap that all the people in the swap select a material that is common so noone has any issues getting that material.... thanks for hosting
  13. no problem smalltown, just let me know

  16. I know, I know, it gets old people comming on here begging for new swaps, but I am doing just that. I am not able to host but am ready for a new one. I do not have any really good ideas, but one that I think would be kinda fun would be a material specific swap. Such as bucktail. We could even have each swapper pick a material than randomly select one of the submitions..... Sorry just an eager swapper....
  17. I am not sure if this has already been covered, or talked about, but I wanted to say congrats to Day5. He had his fly the "spider craw" published in Fly fish America. The magazine printed a very nice half page article including a picture, tying instructions, and the pattern. Congrats keep up the good work. :headbang:

  23. Ok now you got me thinking about this topic. I am 19 years old and do not claim to be a fly fisherman, bait fisherman, or even a fly tier. I am simply an outdoorsman. If it means I have to put the fly rod down and try different techniques Iwill without batting an eye. When I think of fishing equipment I think of an investment. An investment in my good times. To have a good time you do not have to spend 700 dollars on a fishing rod. On the other hand I believe there is some things out there that need the proper amount of money spent on them. For example. I would consider myself and average sized man(6 foot around 200 pounds). With this in mind I am not going to bu a cheap float tube or pontoon boat. My safety and comfort are more important than the price tag. I think the reason that people spend so much money on these thing is because they cost more. People think that just because it costs more means it should perform better. In my eyes I consider myself very blessed to be able to take part in outdoor sports and If guys out there want to spend all that money by all means please do. In short.....It is not the equipment, it is how you use it.
