  1. You can't go wrong with that one. Very nice :headbang: Ray thanks for posting that tip, very helpful.
  2. Mini hub not sure how I missed this one but nice fish man!!! :headbang:
  3. Darn it!! I thought I put this under the lodge. Sorry
  4. Came across this image and had a good laugh, thought I would share.
  5. Jan I was using the old Dyna King last night to tie up some streamers so I'll add a picture of it to your thread.
  6. Sorry about the delay I didn't drop them off on my way home like I had planned so the next day I gave them to the wife to drop off at the post office and they sat in her car trunk. They are in the mail and you should start to see them soon. Sorry again for the delay
  7. I'm not sure how it works in the States I'm sure it's different all over but up here we wouldn't be allowed to fill a freezer with trout. If your limit for trout is 6 and you have 2 at home your only allowed to bring 4 home with you. Your not allowed to have in your possession more than 6. Same with brook trout our limit is 5 so if you have 3 at home already we would only be allowed to bring 2 home. I don't see how this guy is eating 6 fish a day unless he has a large family. Are your limits allowed to accumulate? Down here in FL (and I think pretty much everywhere else in the States) limits are Daily Bag limits so what you have at home doesn't matter. How is the Canadian law enforced? I don't suppose the Man, after checking your stringer, follows you home and checks your freezer :dunno: ? They can if they believe there is problem and they do catch people once and a while. The MNR (Ministry of natural resources) will watch you for hours for days or for weeks before they decide to talk to you. Don't lie to them it really sets them off.
  8. They stock a lot up here. I'll eat the stockies but the wild ones go back.

  10. Flies that catch fish are $5 each with a minimum order of 24 flies. I know someone that didn't want to sell her flies at a show she was demonstrating at so she said they were $12 each; she sold everything she tied that day. $15 for 12 flies is way too cheap.
  11. Brook trout are native.... they are not even trout they are char. the LMB is also native... and so is the SMB to my knowledge. They are native to some parts of the country. When they are transplanted to other waters, they can become pests, crowding out the native fish. Brook trout, rainbow trout, small-mouth and largemouth bass are all native to N. America. Yes I know they are char, along with Lake Trout and Bull Trout. Not sure how that applies to this though. That's why you need to throw some pike in there, keeps everything in balance. http://www.pffa.co.uk/thecaseforpike.htm
  12. That's funny. I have 1 cat, 1 dog and 2 cockatiels, so far the materials have stayed safe.
  13. Nice looking dogs but they look like they've done something wrong, either that or there waiting for food. Great pic
  14. Well Saturday was the trout opener for us up here. It's a magical time when all the rivers in Ontario all open at once. I started the season with a couple dozen brookies and 2 spin fisherman that stepped into my back cast (catch and release of course). I usually don't like to stand in the water like this but if you don't someone will come and stand in front of you . Nice day until the river filled up with people and the fishing slowed down. There's a bend in the rod but it's hard to see. Now I can't wait till the second Saturday in May, that's when pike opens. :headbang:
  15. Be safe Carl sounds like it's going to be a wild ride. ps. Just send me your fly tying gear to hold onto just in case j/k. Ian
  16. I have the same one but the 30lb line. I leave the nylon on when doing big flies. Another good supplier is your dentist. Ask them to keep the lead plates from the xrays, there great for building up bodies.
  17. I usually fish sub-surface. I forget the numbers but it's really low the amount of food that a fish will eat off the top water.
  18. Barry it would be nice to see this shared on the classic tying site.
  19. I'm with Mark on this one. It takes only 30 seconds to strip down enough wire for 5 years. For lead I have an old lead core down rigging line with around 300 feet left on it.
  20. Nice one Tom but just remember that bass is closed until the last Saturday of June around here. Try to get them back as fast as possible if you catch them by accident. Also trout opens this Saturday you may want to try it out on the weekend. Ian
  21. Enough is when you pick up the fly tying books and the magazines and you already have the materials. Since this will never happen it shows you that you can never have enough materials.
  22. Thats way too neat!!! where do you really tie
