  1. So how are we going, are all the flies received? I'm a bit anxious for this one!!
  2. OMG!!! You and Big Daddy both coming back at once! Welcome back! Although the timing kind of makes me wonder......together and all......... hmmm  PS, by the way that Orange estaz type bugger I got from you in the steelhead swap a couple years ago? I made a couple slight modifications and its working out great! Thanks for the idea!!!
  3. They shutdown most of the stuff around us today including where I work, HOWEVER I fall under that "essential personnel" banner so I'm sittin here in a half empty building playing on the internet today!
  4. I do it when I'm on the water and unless I'm on a C+R stream that requires it I usually only pinch them down on sz 12 or larger hooks. The smaller hooks come out easy enough anyway.
  5. I guess that would be "dyeing", oops!!! :wallbash: Thanks every one for your help, I guess I wash it all!
  6. I tie with the Anvil Mini's in hand as well. My hands aren't real big and they're a length that they don't get in my way when tying but easily accessible by shifting my thumb. I just put one loop over my ring finger and I'm good.
  7. Congrats to everyone! It was even tougher to pick just one in most of the classes this year!!!
  8. I've got a bit of dying I need to do, mostly angora yarn and some zonker strips and my question is regarding the prep work in particular the angora yarn. Do I need to go through the whole washing and drying process prior to dying the materials?? With the zonker strips it probably does make sense to do it the more I think about it but what about the yarn? Can I get away with just going ahead and dying it??? The yarn and strips are all currently white. Thanks!
  9. UTC makes a gel spun thread now also thats available in colors. I don't know that they make it as heavy as the GX2 thread though. Good for smaller deer hair flies though.
  10. Nice tie, lot's of movement!
  11. No not a chance, I hardly ever drink any more.
  12. Suck it up you guys! It's only "Steve"! :baby:
  13. I go only Daiichi with some exceptions that are only available in Partridge. Can't beat them, never had a hook break yet unlike some brands.
  14. George, I can't tell you how sad I am to hear this. I have no doubt that your strength and personality will surely be a great help to you and your wife to get throught this! It sounds like the Dr's are all over this and I am sure the is in good hands. I will being saying my prayers for her. If you ever just want to talk, about anything just shoot me call.
  15. I'll be sending a set of #14 Red Quills.
  16. Steve, Shoot me a PM with your address when you get a chance I'm wrapped up and should be mailing them Thursday. How many should I be shipping?
  17. Shoot me your address when you get a chance. I'm hoping to be wrapped up and in the mail by 1/30.
  18. I've pretty well gotten out of lead also. The only lead I use now is when tying clousers and someone wants the red lead eyes on them. If I'm tying weighted nymphs I use the lead free wire, it's not quite as heavy but it works. As far as the other materials I use them all, brass tungsten or copper, They all have their place.
  19. I've always had excellent lighting but I had to start tying with a profile plate behind it about 8 yrs ago and it really helped ALOT. Kept me afloat on sight for about 6 yrs until I ended up getting bi-focals at 41. I also use a magnifier but I can get away without it as long as I'm tying 12's or larger. It bites getting older(but not old!)
  20. This is me with one of my gsp's.

  23. I thought I saw someone was going to do an Improved sofa pillow but I'm not seeing it now, so if nobody pipes up I'll be doing that in a #10.
