Good Day, I concur, give it a good rinse/soak in fresh water, other wise hide will tend to harden in my experience.I have heard rumor of some guys soaking with a few drops dish soap and warm water, the type that is kind to your hands (lanolin?) to help soften the skin then a real good rinse. But then again, this is only hearsay... Steelie

Good Day, Depends... if the lines are cracked, good luck... If they are not cracked you have a better chance at reviving them.
