  1. Here's my tutorial using Congo Hair http://www.flytyingforum.com/index.php?showtopic=53735
  2. I got it at my local shop here in Eugene. http://www.caddisflyshop.com/
  3. Please post pics of the results. Looks like an all star cast.
  4. Looking at the picture I would probably tie it using the following materials. Tail: Marabou Body: Crystal Chenille Wing: It kind of look slike Rafia, but I would use a hen hackle tip as recommended above. Head: Larger Crystal Chenille or maybe even estaz.
  5. I ordered 5 packs of each color last night so I could give a review once they arrive. However, I normally order my eyes from lurepartsonline.com
  6. Thanks man. It's basically a deer Hair version of your Michigan Mudflap. I just got done tying over 40 of those in various colors for a couple swaps and wanted to try a deer hair version. You are right, they have great action!
  7. A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by Pelhament: Michigan J.
  8. If you are still looking for tying instructions, here is a brief rundown just from looking at that fly. Put hook in vise. Secure thread near eye. Figure 8 wrap lead eyes to secure. Move thread towards bend in hook. Tie in a clump of Marabou. Tie in a Saddle Hackle. Tie in Chenille. Wrap chenille up hook shank to eyes and tie off. Palmer saddle Hackle up to eyes and tie off. Tie in a clump of marabou in front of eyes. Form head, whip finish and head cement. Hope that helps. Chris
  9. I`m not so sure that it would be safer than sex. Grab a feather and get kicked in the crotch. I can just see it now on the front page," Woman charges man with touching her feathers. DA seeks death penalty". A girl at my class reunion is a hair dresser and had a bunch of feathers and flashabou in her hair. My buddy ripped out a piece of flashabou (after a few drinks) to show here it wasn't some fancy expensive silk tinsel (that she was claiming it was) and that he could buy a 100+ strands for $5. Needless to say she didn't believe him and nearly kicked him in the crotch. As far as girls not knowing they are chicken feathers. Most girls "have never seen a pink or purple chicken" and have never thought that the feathers might be died. Plus "the packages does not say chicken on it. It says Grizzy Saddle." Honest to god, those are some of the responses I've got.
  10. Every girl I see I ask them if they realize they have chicken feathers in their hair. They scoff at me like I am an idiot and tell me they aren't chicken feathers. I then laugh and walk way.
  11. The picture is of 2 separate flies; a white one and a yellow one. I was thinking Circus Peanut at first but then I noticed there were two flies in the picture.
  12. Ok, so its a wooley bugger with Marabou tied in at the head. Tie a wooley bugger and attach some marabou at the front of it.
  13. Looks to me like a wooley bugger with lead eyes.
  14. I highly doubt you will find any sort of line on the Warmwater board. I mean Day5 is attaching spinner blades to his "flies" for god's sake Tying grub tails into bass flies has been an accepted and productive technique for quite some time. Don't worry what any of the purist's say, their views are outdated and don't really apply to flyfishing anymore
  15. You might check livingrubber.com to see if they have anything. I buy all my skirts from them.
  16. Those twin tail grubs slay the bass around my part, I could see that fly doing some real damage. Strong work!
  17. I actually store all of my bass flies in a tackle box that holds plano trays. Its not something you can put in your vest, but it is pretty handy when you are fishing from a boat.
  18. A lot of companies have been doing this for a few years, as well as a lot of online magazines. Its pretty interesting but I agree it is a little annoying...
  19. I found a box for some clearance priced crotchless Men's Rubber Undies. The next day my buddy found a fresh grow site in the same area... Talk about Wacky Tobacci
  20. The guys down at Trophy Waters in Medford designed it. Its a great fly, that I have also been using successfully for big Trout and Steelhead for many years. Nice tie Carl!
  21. He's had his own page in the catalog for 4 or 5 years now, so someone must be buying them.
  22. Pat, Your creativity is boundless and I am sure a lot of that comes from you being a tattoo artist. In your second year of tying you are kicking out stuff that is making most of us who have been tying for many more years amazed at your skills. I would love to be able to sit down with you for even an hour to pick your brain on deer hair, and just an all around BS session. Keep it up man! You and Day5 are freaking killing it here on the Warmwater board and are pushing bass flies to a whole new level that has never been seen before. I love this fly! Take care, Chris
  23. My favorite Pink Salmon fly is a Flash Fly. Pink Flashabou tail, silver mylar body, Pink Flashabou Wing. Looks just like your 2nd and 3rd fly except it uses flashabou.
  24. Sounds familiar... Matt, great fly. It looks like you and I have been thinking along the same wavelength recently.
