beautiful fish- Im in the mix of putting a poling deck on my Jon Boat for this season (for sight fishing carp). If you have any advise PM me... Great pics!

Lets see some pics of everyones best Tarpon, I'm stuck in Chicago, however every night when I'm sitting at the vise I continue to tie Tarpon and Snook flies- I'm loosing my mind. Can someone please share some pictures so I am reminded why I'm tying these things...

good combo on the blues... i might try a few of those myself... As for fly boxes I broke them up by species. I bought three different grand slam boxes from C&F Design and have a bonefish, permit, and tarpon box (all my go to's) and one large Umpqua box for everything else (hail mary's) I think that break down works well (its more or less all small flies/shrimp in the bonefish/ all crabs in the permit/ and EP baitfish / toads in the tarpon box)

flies look great! and im sure the fish will feel the same way-

I have a place in Naples and have fished there for many years in spring and early summer. Backcountry is the shop to go to. If you cant make it there right away bring these flies with you just in case. All of them have produced snook, reds, lady fish, and trout for me in Naples on a regular basis. If you just want to fish the beach early early morning is best (IMO) fish are not as spooky and your shots are much closer then in the middle of the day or evening. If your walking the mangroves I like to fish incoming tide. On a falling tide I would fish the flats off of Wiggins Pass. Bring these flies as a starter and Backcountry can fine tune you once you get there. I will be down there in March as well. Good Luck
My go to snook fly... "Midnight Minnow"
Two really good mangrove snook and red flies... for the darker water (EP Finger Mullet / Mangrove Bait fish)
And some must have shrimps for those pickier laid up snook... (EP Shrimp varieties)

I have to agree, Polar Fiber minnow is the first thing that hits the water when Im snook fishing in Naples, FL. Its all back country by me too, but def. tidal based. Fish will eat those mangrove bait fish colored EP flies and polar minnows on that clear incoming tides. When its outgoing stained water I like using the dark colored fox fur clouser patterns in Brown or dark green. If you fish for any cruising snook along the beaches I have had killer luck with finger mullte patterns Brown on top White on the bottom. Good luck and fish those snook hard- it will pay off

this is a great fly, I bet it would be great for some of our midwest area ponds and lakes (Bass, Pike) Great job.

Sounds like a great trip, I'm headed south this March to fish the Glades for Tarpon. Its not easy stuff to get the big boys to play. I hooked, landed, and released my first Tarpon last year- and let me be the first to say it didn't quiet fall into the 8lb range! Great pics keep chasing that Silver King!

I really like Charlies Fly Box, most of the flies in there are easy to tie and there is a lot of variety. Also the pictures are large and clear, if you take your time you can tie your way right through the whole book. Great salt and fresh water flies, hopper patterns, and dies are all included. Also if you enjoy tying EP flies, join Enrico Puglisi's website. He has tons of videos and step by step instructions for making unbelievable flies. Its 19.99 a year but I think its well worth it. Just my 2 cents...

This is my best EP fly to date (had 6 before this though...).
I love tying these flies, they are easy to tie once you figure out your increments of EP.
This is my best glass minnow, It works great in saltwater (snook, lady fish).
This is my prototype Goby. It has weight on the bottom and worked very well on the Small mouth in Chicago this summer!
I want to make a faster sinking one this spring for pre-spawn fish.

attack them from the rear! I always head upstream. bigger waters I fish upstream while casting across as well...
