Thanks Riffle, From the looks of your recommendations there are a few hatches this time of year would streamer fishing be a loss? Ive read that smelt patterns can be effective in the spring but do they hold in this system after they spawn?

A friend and myself are heading to Nipigon at the end of Aug for the last wk of the Brookie season. We have fished this area early spring (steelhead) but never in the fall. We plan on fishing some of the upper stretches of the Nipigon River by boat and then some other tribs around Lake Superior. I am curious if anyone else has fished the Nipigon this time of year and could point me in the direction of what flies to use or any other useful info. Cheers and tight lines!
