I have looked into the guadalupe river, but who is it that I talk to about joining. I know I will only make it over there a couple times in the winter months, about a 4 hour drive from here, but I will no doubt make it. thanks for the tips!

Largemouths are soooo much fun. Hook into a big one that peels off drag and that is what makes me keep coming back for more. I am dreaming about a big fight on a fly, I can't wait!! My largest bass on a fly so far was only a pound or so, but I'm fishing water that I've seen 14+ lbers come out of so maybe the fish gods will be with me someday.

thanks for the input, and wow there are a ton of hook options, lol. I'm guessing the 2xl and 3xl are referring to shank length? I think I'm going to mainly stick to bass streamers and poppers to start with, then get into other ties as the need arises.

I've been reading for a few days and everyone has great input, but I'm wondering if there are certain brands to avoid. Being on a budget, I don't want to buy some crap that I will end up leaving sitting around forever because it's not worth buying. I'm starting with nothing at all, so any pointers will be appreciated.. and yes I've searched and read a lot of threads, just throwing it out there before I order equipment to get started tying.

I'm a new Fly fisherman, and I'm interested in learning to tie my own flies. I primarily fish for bass but after a trip to Creede Colorado, i fell in love with trout fishing and I can't wait to go back. My plans are to fly fish streams and lakes in my area for bass, crappie and perch until I can head back to the mountain rivers. I've been reading up and studying on tying techniques and trying to decide on a vise.
