  1. one more tip if you see the tops of the poppers they have that nice little curve to them thats the round part on the outside edge of the flip flop if you make one straight cut for your height from top to bottom all you have to do is cut the angle on the front and cut rear square use the preformed nice rounded edge on the flip flop
  2. I use a mustad 2/0 stainless steel on these , My hook ups have been pretty good so far
  3. Yep, have fished in Fl. & other southern states. Same here in MD, some of our rivers have that dark, tannic stain to them as well. I won't say that dark colors work best here, as the water can be fairly clear even with the stain. But, I always have some dark colored flies on hand! I like variety to cover as many situations & conditions as possible! I'm looking forward to seeing your black version! here is the black one added it
  4. They float nice, maybe you can cut the first three inches off your wife's flip flop maybe she would not miss it,haha
  5. here is the black version i added to the pictures thanks for all the nice comments
  6. Did not have the money for popper heads so i bought 99 cent flip flops in the biggest size i could find which gave me enough materials to do many and have enough materials to spare. Thought i would show them to you in case someone was on a low budget like me , I use nail polish and permanent markers for finish coat then clear coat , They float great and you can adjust angle for how much plop you want there easy and fun to make , I added a diagram of how i cut out the flip flop useing the outside radius as the top back, then i show the 2 cut out , also i added a picture so you could see it float hope this helps , when you cut like it shows you get all smooth edges then poke your hole through with a bodkin and push hook through , I have a bead reaming tool got at wally world , its a very pointy file works great for expanding hole if needed its in bead section great tool 5 bucks , when i push hook through i pull in back out then i coat hook with gel ca glue push it back in in minutes its ready , I use a big needle to pull legs through , I put marabou on rear little flash sometimes , then hackle feather or spin some deer hair near body and its ready to add colors and eyes sometimes ill clear coat to . Make one in your favorite color let me know how they worked out for you all questions and replies welcome if i can help. Here is another selection you can make
  7. Yes the first picture didnt do the worm justice , I just finished one with black gonna put some green flake on it ,alot of our lakes here in Florida are dark and tanic and the dark colors work best for me , I like using wire leader material for the snag guard to , nice spring and dont bend to easy

  10. I weighted a 3x 3/0 stainless steel hook with 2 flat strips of lead weight right behind the eye then i added a zonker tail with a fly tails curly tail then spun deer hair then trimmed to shape then i put green flakes with nail polish this is my first attempt at making a bass worm any ideas to improve it would be appreciated. I like to thank everybody for the suggestions so far and i added the snag guard of 40 lbs leader wire and re took the picture showing weed guard and thanks to a better camera its showing the worms true colors.I added the yellow and black worm to show a blended colored worm. I also added red and gray worm to show blended color with the double bunny tail, all tails on these worms have a under wire loop to keep them from fouling the hook.
