Deer Creek UV Flex resin to control direction of hair and shape of head Best of luck with it.
  2. Bob Popovic's Hollow Fleye is one of the greatest fly patterns EVER. Here is a synthetic version I tied using Deer Creek Gliss n Glint. The hook is a 2/0 Partridge Attitude Extra for size reference. These are double articulated streamers I tied that equal about 3.5" total length. They weight next to nothing and have a ton of movement in the water. Perfect for a 5 or 6wt fly rod. I am very happy with the way this pattern came out.
  3. Disco parachute pants with an astronaut helmet head.
  4. I forgot the name if the middle one! Was it stuffed puppy massacre Yep. #4 Partridge Attitude Extra, Deer Creek Mega Laser Dub body, and toy store stuffed puppy hair for a head.
  5. Some really great flies on here guys, keep em coming. Here are two I whipped up last night. This is what happens when a Bob Popovich's "Hollow Fleye" meets an Andreas Andersson's "Delivery Man"
  6. First attempts at gigantic musky flies for someone who has extreme trust in me for some reason. Typically I tie flies about 1/10th the size. These are all Partridge Predator X 8/0, the orange one is 6/0.
  7. diver with a very thin tail...needs more beef in the back.
  8. Its not me going to Australia, it was the flies going to Australia haha. I wish it were opposite honestly. I need a vacation.
  9. I prefer my Clouser minnows to be extremely sparse. I am not sure why...I just like the way it looks in the water vs a bigger bulky profile..
  10. "Gandalf" articulated streamer - messing with Hareline's new "Slow Rolla Tails" this way pretty fun. Named it Gandalf for obvious reasons. A variant of Andreas Andersson's "Skinhead" "Fire Bream" - size 2/0 Partridge Predator X. Very bulky looking but very lightweight with a ton of movement. I bet the bass will slay this.
  11. Busy Busy Going to Australia to be featured in a fishing DVD "Aquasoul" Random bassy-ness going to Ohio
  12. Thank you very much. Great looking flies so far everyone. I love this forum.
  13. Size 1 divers and poppers. Much smaller then I typically tie them. The most efficient size is 2/0 or 4/0....these little guys are fun tho.
  14. Beautiful popper. This is going to be a great month
  15. Going for perchy/bluegilly....needs tweaking.
  16. Gandalf streamers. #2 Attitude Streamer hook.......about 2" long. Or if you prefer articulated, #2 and #1 about 4" long. Random carp bugs. "Carp Dough Boy" by Cheech of FFF. Some type of ghetto bugger thing Grass carp mossy vegitation type fly....just CDC and SLF dub A foam body/bullet head hopper thing.
  17. I have never had a problem with Feather Emporium. Order from them all the time. Great stuff.
  18. My buddy (the carp whisperer) texted me and suggested we go check out some new water that is rumored to have some giant grass carp.......so I got to work last night. I tied about 2 dozen of these stillwater nymphs.....I also made up some type of floating moss this that is too disgusting for pictures.
  19. No template. I have a feel for the shape and size I want from a specific hook size and kinda wing it. If there are subtle differences, I don't think the fish care. None of these deer hair bugs are ever "perfect" anyway. Thank you for the kind words. I agree with Cream. Every bug is somewhat different, but "close enough" to the shape I have always used (or attempted to make in the beginning). The only template really is the bend of the razer blade....but I dont trim mine that way anyway. The trick is to take little pieces off instead of giant chunks, you can always take more off, but you cant add more hair. Sometimes I have to keep that in the back of my mind the entire time cause I get impatient.
  20. I used to burn eye sockets in them all the time. My cautery tool burnt out and I have been too lazy to replace it. I have not had a problem with eyes falling off using this method, plus i sorta like the extra bulge on the face. I use gel super glue to keep the eye in place, after it sets for a bit I coat the sides and top with UV resin.I also put some UV resin on the collar for stiffness and on the belly for more "glide". The completed bugs die before the eyes do....at least in my experience. When I used the cautery tool a trick I used was to press the eye into the hair first to imprint the size, shape, and location....then just burn away. Also, just like building a building, measure twice burn once. It does smell terrible and your girlfriend will complain....After thats done clear out the socket with a brush and proceed with the gel glue/UV as previously mentioned.
  21. Thank you. These particular ones are Deer Creek HD 3D Volcano Eyez 8mm
  22. Tied up some more colors of the "Ouroboros" I posted the other day. Ive also been messing with this simple single hook baitfish fly. The hook is a Partridge Predator X 4/0 for size reference. While cleaning up my tying desk from this weekends mayhem, I saw three materials laying on top of eachother and thought they would look good smashed together on a hook....so I did it....Its probably someones pattern out there already, but I thought they looked good haha.
