  1. As a Rangers fan this fly was very difficult to tie. Its supposed to be a Flyers diver for a friend.... LETS GO RANGERS
  2. Tied with the free road kill red fox tail this weekend. A buddy of mine found the dead animal on the side of the road a few weeks ago and snipped the tail for me. After salting it and cleaning it, this is what I came up with. Some road kill streamers. Articulated using #2 and #1 Attitude Streamer hooks -Road kill red fox tail -palmer chenille on the back -polar chenille on the front -arctic fox tail for the head Road kill mouse - 3/0 Predator X -Road kill red fox tail -Rabbit zonker tail -Deer belly and foam for floatation -Mouse Bitz - large -Bruiser Blend JR head - UV Resin/Sharpie eyes
  3. Mixed media variants. Saw something like this on this website. Kind of cool. I bet the carp will smash. This is a love child of Drunk and Disorderly, Boogie Man, and Rag Dolly. I really like this one. I will call it the DBD.
  4. Rag Dolly for the stripers in the river
  5. Agree 100%. Every bug is different based on how much hair is per stack. Even if they are relatively the same size with the "same" amount of hair per stack....it is still different in one way or another. Ive tied hundreds of deer hair bugs and I dont find this beneficial at all. The key is to take off as little hair at a time as possible, not just one swipe across with a pre-formed blade. I am not going to say its "not a cool idea, with decent execution", but it just seems like another gimmicky tool IMO. I have never had problems using my fingers to bend the blade. The only times ive sliced my finger open, the razor had nothing to do with it. Time #1: Foster dog jumped in my lap and I slipped on the hair and cut my thumb. Time #2: I sneezed.
  6. Just a simple articulated zonker streamer. #4 Partridge Attitude Streamer Wire ribbing Ice dub Micro pulsator rabbit tied in at the eye then ribbed 25mm Shank same material/process as above....just use darker shade of ice dub for gill area. 6mm Eyez with resin head. It swims very nicely. I do add some .025 lead free wire to the shank....both to close the annoying gap on the shank, and add some weight to get it down. About 10-14 wraps is plenty.
  7. Recently, I have been using Partridge Sea Prince #1 or #2. A little more stout then the traditional "Clouser" hook, but I like it.
  8. This is what I use. http://www.flyskinz.com/
  9. Curtis does. Cheech, not so much. yeah Cheech blows. Curtis is much better.
  10. Thanks alot! Not really. Most of the belly hair patches are not super consistent in length so each diver has its own size/shape.....if that makes sense....I just cut the belly flat and go from there and try to keep the head the same-ish proportionate size to the tail so it looks like its one bug, not just a tail and a big head or a tail and a pea-head. Every diver has the same general head shape and size of collar/nose ratio. I have seen a new tool which is basically two pieces of wire molded together to hold a razor blade at a certain angle, but I never trim that way anyway. I always take little chunks at a time rather than one swipe with a bent blade. I have the mentality that you can always trim off more but you cant add it back. Plus the tool keeps your hand farther away from the blade itself making it a little more difficult to control IMO. I have not used it so this is all just speculation of course.
  11. black and gray with some fuchsia gills and zombie eyes.
