  1. Goddard version of caddis tied with CDC. Why CDC? because on the slow and very slow running rivers works better than other material. At least for me:) I tie this fly down to size #20 , not possible with deer hair. So here it is: the step by step is here on my blog Thanks for watching, Lucian
  2. My rivers are slow running. Trout has plenty of time to check the flies. Too bulky and the trout will not rise to check it. So I ise guard hair from hare or sometimes I use guard fibers from squirrel. I dubb very tight and I use CDC gel to increase the floatability . The fly will have the entire body in water and only the CDC loop will be up. @prairiedrifter , in my opinion any fly that needs more than 4-5min to be tied is not very easy or simple fly . At this pattern if you do not make the proper sized cdc loop the fly will not float well. If the thorax has too much dubbing, same situation, will not catch fish. In the past I trow at garbage a lot of them until I found the proper proportions, the exact qty of cdc and so on... For this reason I call not very easy to be tied
  3. Is not the simplest emerger to tie but works excellent in my waters. So here it is:
  4. Hi guys, I'm glad that you like it. I use this fly in Summer and I had all kind of fish in June and July. #fshng2 I use a magnet # eastern fly, sorry, I do not have videos. probably I will start making sometimes but I have to figure what kind of camera I need. I make macro photos for aprox 20years but with video I do not have experience... thanks, Lucian
  5. Hi guys, Here is a simple bug with a juicy look. I had nice fish in Slovenia and in Sweden.

  7. Hi guys, Here is a model of caddis nymph with realistic look when gets wet. It is very easy to tie, no more than 4-6min to make the fly: And when is wet looks really cool: Materials: Demmon G602 #10-14 Tying thread – Uni 8/0 black Under-body thread : yellow Perdigon Body Thread Body: Virtual Nymph Skin in translucent color Hackle : CDC Thorax: Troutline Pure Squirrel Dubbing orange and black pepper
  8. One for Autumn fishing in rivers with gin clear waters. Here in Europe this model is considered "a must" in everybody box. Now when the rivers are low and clear, these kind of flies will save your fishing day. It is tied simple, body made of tying thread, 2 CDC feathers and that is it. Optional you can ribb the body with tinsel or fine wire or you can make one or two turns with dubbing behind wings. The fly is extremely simple and efficient. F Fly was created in Slovenia by Marjan Fratnic, a local fishermen appreciated in this part of Europe. thanks, Lucian
  9. Hi guys, bellow is an old model used from '80 . The fly was tied in the first years without bead .After '90 the local fishermen added first time brass bead and then tungsten bead. The fly looks ugly when is dry but when looks very juicy: The nymph is tied with raw wool. The yellow ribbed is the old fly and the rest of wet nymphs are tied with catgut and nymphs kin So you can make beautiful nymph with simple materials, no needed all the time to use fancy and expensive products. best, Lucian
  10. I use alpaca and I like it IMHO this hair is perfect for gammarus nymphs ( snow bug too ). I mix it with synthetic dubbing and I obtain a nice material for wet flies and nymphs ( thorax area for example ) I do not know how is if you want to make streamer wings but for wet flies, bugs and nymphs the material is really ok. cheers, Lucian
  11. Glad that you like the flies. I use them for fishing trout and grayling in Lapland in Summer. I start using as a dry and when gets too wet I fish it down and across like a wet fly. For me, this fly is a must and I have all the time in size #12 and size #10 in my box. The hair used is guard fur from squirrel. I tie it also with guard fur from hare but the fibers from squirrel, at least for me, seems to work better. Thanks
  12. Hi guys, Which one do you like more? The partridge hackle is kind of magic material for wet flies and emergers. Fur hackle is more durable So which one do you prefer? Thanks Lucian
  13. This one is on size #16. I tie it in sizes #14, 16 and #18. You can go down on size #20 too but I prefer to remain at size #16 and #18. The I had rainbow trout of 3 kilo in SLovenia and some nice grayling between one kilo and 2 kilos in Lapland.
  14. Now a very colored nymph. The fly is not created by me, is made by an Italian fishermen . He asked me to tie a couple of dz for him - for competitions purposes ). So here it is: The tying time is very short and is a fly easy , any beginner can make it. If you don't like it , at least you can make a nice pair of earrings!
  15. yes, the fly is working great with black bead too About the point of the hook, yes it's sticking my skin Thanks for your kind words The same fly can be tied with yellow- pale yarn. Looks great when gets wet.
  16. Here is a quick tied latex caddis. Usually I used natural latex but after a while the latex strip goes down. I like the Virtual nymph latex because is more durable : I hope you like it Thanks, Lucian
  17. Autumn is here so I started to make a few emergers Here is bellow one that I like to have in size #14 and #16. Recipe: Hook barbless - Maruto Dohitomi Thread: -UTC 70 Denier black Body: -biot in cream Tail: -Coq de Leon - pardo corzuno medio Thorax: -pure squirrel dubbing Wing: -natural grey CDC or natural black fixed in loop ( 2 feathers for hooks in size #12-14 and only one for size #16 I like to use CDC due to the transparency and elasticity of these feathers. I love to use it for grayling fishing ( I know that some folks don't take this fish seriously ) because usually this fish is more picky than trout. For trout, this fly is reinforced with turns of copper wire. Otherwise after first nice fish the body will be destroyed. Lucian
  18. Hi guys, I have a question regarding colors for streamers. I use micro streamer to catch grayling, chub, perch and black bass. Sometimes trout because where I fish I go often to catch grayling. I noticed that rust and black works great but natural grey color and olive not so fantastic. I didn't had so many fish to make a conclusion but I'm curios which are your favorite colors when we talk about zonker streamers. These bellow are tied on size #14 hook with squirrel strips. I had more fish on orange-rusty and rare on natural grey: Thanks for sharing your opinion Lucian
  19. Thank you guys for your kind words It is a really simple fly to tie. The body is made of dubbing ( I use guard hair dubbing from hare mask mixed with squirrel or other spiky dubbing like cricetus dubbing). The thorax is made of the same dubbing but darker mixed with synthetic dubbing to increase the visibility and to give an extra "blink". I add also seal dubbing or something similar. You can ribb it with classic tinsel but I like to use flat pearl tinsel or round pearl tinsel. The round tinsel looks better and stay much better in this kind of dubbing and don't slip so easy over the body like flat tinsel. Tied in dark color and light color and you will have a great all around trout nymph that will cover almost all spectrum colors of big aquatic bugs. cheers
  20. Depends how you use it. I know when and how to use these kind of flies and I will catch fish. For example when the season starts I will go with this fly without any doubt. I will change it after 3 or 4th fish.I will try to use more specific fly or I will try to find a better fly for that moment of fishing. If I will go on an unknown river I will start with these bugs. I never had a blank day for more than 15 years, and this type of nymph saved my fishing days all the time. Is a great all around trout nymph and is a perfect searching pattern. It is like Adams between dry flies. I have a lot of models because I like to test and make new flies all the time. But this model has a special place in my box, gives me confidence and works all the time. cheers
  21. Here is one of my favorite bug nymph for trout. I tie it in size #10-14 on caddis curved hooks: And the grey version:
  22. Thanks, is not fingernails, I just mixed the powder with uv resin
  23. Just to give you some ideas about using glitter on your flies - simple to use -can create nice effects -and really works
  24. Playing with catgut and different colored threads used for underbody. The final look and effect : *almost dried body: *wet bodies: Lucian
