Hey yall. I dont mind questions and Im glad to answer them except for Grayson's.... LOL! j/p with ya buddy. As for your questions I cuaght the Red Drum and two others (41" a peice) in the sound on North Carolina's coast. I dont know if it would be possible to land one of these big boys on a fly rod. We where using huge 10' Surf Rods with about 20-40lb test line and these boys where stillin pullin drag like nuthin. A Red Drum is like a bulldozer when he is hooked. He his goin the other way and theres nuthin you can do but hope you have enough line. We where using cut spot for bait and big circle hooks. Grayson, the birds are Bobwhite Quail. We use them to train our bird dog up in the off season and then when the season comes in we know he is ready from seeing him work in the off season. His name is Spot and he is a Shorthaired Pointer. Thanks for the replys and taking the time to look at the pics. ttyl and tight lines.-Tim

Hey all. I went fishin today for the first time since I got off groundation. lol. It was cool. It was also my first time using my new flys yall sent me and once again thanks for them. Anyway when I got home I did my homework, grabbed my fly rod, fly box, and pliers and headed to the public pond. My brother also went with me. My bro was fishin a minnow type swimbait on his ultra light spinnin reel (he doesnt fly fish ). Anyway I started off with a clouser minnow and had high hopes of tempting a nice bass to bite but no such luck. We didnt catch anything so I switched to a golden colored popper with no luck but lil tiny bream where follerin it perty good. After that I tried a grasshopper fly and no sooner than it hit the water a big bream came up and hit it but only got the legs . We didnt catch anything the whole two hours we where there but we still had a good time. A guy that was down the way from us was fishin with live nightcrawlers on a rodnreel and caught a lil tiny bream. Maybe Ill make it out again tommorow if I can talk mom into it. ttyl, tight lines, and good tyin.-Tim

What about blood knot? It seems kinda easy to tie and I will try the loop as well.-Tim
-
Hey guys. Im bout to head to the pond so I got one really quick question. Will this knot work for tyin a mono leader to your fly line? Thanks.-Tim
Here is the knot. http://shoreangling4u.tripod.com/knotguide/id13.html
-
What kind of knot does everybody use to connect the fly line to the leader? I just learned the surgeons knot? Will this hold up for bream-trout? Thanks and what do you all use? ttyl, tight lines, and good tyin.-Tim
-
I always used the improved clinch (spelling) but I have been usin mono leaders and its breakin when I use improve clinch so I might try palomar.-Tim
-
Thanks for the pics. All of the mounts look really good. Congrats on the fish. ttyl, tight lines, and good tyin.-Tim

Hey all. I got my flies today in the mail. They are simply AWSOME! Im so excited about using these I can bareley stand it lol. These flies are awsome guys. All in all I have 66 flies of all different kinds. Grayson I appreciate the fly box as well. I just want everybody to know that I REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciate this more than yall can imagine. You boys sure know how to get a guy hooked and started on fly fishin. lol. I cant really see me pickin up my baitcasting or spinning reel that often anymore LOL! I am heading to Bass Pro Shops this weekend to get a new 4wt Fly Rod Combo and hopefully a digital camera of some kind to take pictures of all the fish I catch on these puppys with. As you can tell I am PUMPED over these flys and want to thank you guys alot. Thanks alot for all the help you have given me on getting me on my way to fly fishin. Thanks again and again and again and again. Hopefully Im off to tryem out tommorow afternoon if the weather allows fly castin. Thanks again. ttyl, tight lines, and GOOD TYIN!-Tim -
What are your experiences with the Bushnell ImageView? I have been lookin for a digital camera latley and I also need some binoculars. This would serve both purposes I would think. It is also in my price range. How good are the pictures from the ImageView? Thanks in advance.-Tim

Thanks for the help. ttyl and tight lines.-Tim
PS:I know BPS sells All Star Rods in general but Im not sure as to their fly rods. Thanks again.
-
Hey all. Just wondering what the prices run for All Star Fly Rods? Im a big fan of All Star and was wondering because I cant seem to find the price anywhere and its not on their website (www.allstarrods.com). Thanks in advance.-Tim
PS:I get my new fly rod next week!
-
Hey man. Nice lookin mount. I was just wonderin if you could post a pic of one of your skin mounts as well. Id just like to be able to compare the two. Thanks.-Tim
PS:I also prefer a replica cus I like the idea of the fish swimming away to be caught another day.

Hey yall. I got to thinkin and was just wonderin about this. We have a ton of corncob mullet around here and they work great for drum bait but they are also rather large. Do you think you could catch one on a fly rod? I bet they would pull perty good.-Tim

Now that grocery bag fly vest is an idea!

I just came up with The Redneck Baitcasting Reel by Tim Russell. I think I am gunna get a patent and make big bucks off of this one. Anyway so that my good buddys here at fly tying forum can enjoy in the awsome casting accuracy and distance of this new high tech fishin reel just follow the following instructions.
1.Get about a 8' Surf Rod (name brand doesnt matter with this one).
2.Get a empty beer can from the garbage out back.
3.Duck Tape the beer can to the rod handle/reel seat and poke two holes on each side of it.
4.Get a lil spool of line and stuff it inside the beer can and run your line out the hole and through the eyes of your surf rod.
5.Run a Pencil through the two holes and make sure you get it through the hole in your spool or it wont rotate.
6.After that duck tape another pencil to the part of the pencil that is sticking out on wichever side you reel with (depending on whether you are right or left handed).
7.Tie on a bobber and worm, head to the lake with a rockin chair and cooler full of beer and enjoy your new Redneck Fishin Reel by Tim Russell.
This Product has been brought to you by Dodge: Go Fishin In A Hemi Powered Ram! and Budweiser: When The Hunt Is Through This Buds For You! AND FlyTyingForums.com
PS:I dont really drink I just had WAY to much time on my hands.lol.
PSS:I hope nobody is offended by this I just thought it was kinda funny.

Guys it is finally starting to warm up here in Northeastern NC. We have had a week of good warm weather now and it just figures Im grounded for a week LOL! Anyway starting next week if this weather keeps up I is gunna pick up my ultra light and my fly rod and take to the lake. Cant imagine anything better right now than pullin in the bluegills on my fly rod and ultralight. I think Im havin withdrawals even if I have caught a truckload of cold weather largemouth on the spinning rod so far this year lol. Anyway how is the weather looking for everybody else? Hope somebody can get out there and catch some soon. Good luck and tightlines.-Tim

Dont know to much about cameras but I just got my first ever digital camera recently and I love it. It is an Olympus 3.2 megapixil. It zooms and has a video cam in it and all. It wasnt to expensive compared to alot of the other ones. It was 155 bucks at Super Walmart in VA. Id say for good pics get atleast a 3 megapixil or better. Good luck on your choice ttyl and tight lines.-Tim
PS:here is a link to pics I have taken with my cam. http://www.f150online.com/galleries/albumview.cfm?num=6113
