  1. Sorry Mark. No I’ve never been in a swap with wildcards. BB
  2. Did you get an envelope, at some time, with 2 sets of flies? I’m sure both of your altoid boxes were in the envelope I mailed out. Could this be the envelope from the lost set? BB
  3. Mark, not sure what you mean about “Wildcats.” If you would like to tie up a second set for everyone, I will see to it that those are handled properly. No problem. If you are talking about an extra fly for the Swapmeister as a “Thank You” then my policy has always been that extras are never required or even expected, but always welcomed when they are sent. If that fails to answer your question, then, please, ask again and let me know what a “wildcat” is. BB
  4. Ok. Mark. You are in. You might want to read all the rules in the first post if the Round 1 thread. There are several rules that apply to those who want to participate in more than one round. Basically, for a single round, the rules are pretty much the standard rules. The final due date is a April 10. It is very important that you have your set of flies In My Possession by that date. After the 10th you would be dropped if you don’t have a VERY good reason for being late. To keep the Rounds on schedule we have to keep each individual round on a strict schedule. So far, we haven’t had any serious problems. BB
  5. We have 1 member of the swap who needs to withdraw, so, we have a vacancy. The final due date is April 10. If you can help us out, let me know. BB
  6. Hey Guys. Great new look to the Forum. Let’s hope this will be a stable and dependable fix. It should be. I will be anxious to see if this solves my problem if not getting notifications when someone replies to a thread or sends me a PM. Time will tell. My reason for posting today is to acknowledge the receipt of Pinkin6ofem’s flies. They arrived over the weekend, but I haven’t been able to get on the forum to let you know. Another great set for the Well-Stocked Fly Box. BB
  7. Once again, 3 times in a row, Woodenlegs is the first swapper to get his flies to me and therefore is the winner of the extra fly from me. However, his flies put mine to shame. These are very nice flies and will have a special place in the well-stocked fly box. On another note, how many of you have a store near you where you can find about any material you want, and how many of you have to mail order your materials? The swap that I am planning right after parachutes may require materials that can only be found in the better stocked stores. So I’m thinking that I may need to warn you right after I post parachutes what will be required in case some of you have to order. That will give you a month to get your orders in and back and then a month to get your flies tied. So, give me some idea about how much you have to depend on mail order. I have to depend on mail order for just about everything. BB
  8. Well, well, well. Guys. I got the flies in the mail today. I thought it would be a quick and easy job of getting them ready to go, but I ran into a few snags along the way. Nothing I couldn't overcome, though, and everyone is getting a VERY nice set of emergers. Those of you who were in the 1st swap, and that's everone except Niveker and R Dorlac will be getting the fly from round 1 that you missed because Fishingbobnelson's flies went missing. He kindly tied up another set and sent them with his emergers and so look for 2 flies from Bob. A "Casual Dress" nymph and a Caddis Emerger. Thanks, Bob. I appreciate what you did. A few of the guys tied up 2 flies and so you're all getting a nice set. Woodenlegs is getting 2 from me for being the first to get his set in to me. And as always, I appreciate the fact that several of you contributed some extras for the Swapmeister. Those extra flies are never expected but always appreciated. Thanks BB
  9. Well Guys, the last set arrived today and so we are all good for Round 2. The weather forecast for tomorrow is for us to get some rain. The weather man says “showers” and if that be the case, it will be a good day to get them sorted and back in the mail. I will let you know when I have them headed your way. Thanks to all who participated in this round. You will definitely have some great Emergers to add to your Well-Stocked Fly Box. BB
  10. Final due date is April 10. I will post Round 4 on April 5 and swappers in Round 3 must have their set in my hands on April 5 to sign up. When your flies are in my hands after April 5, you can sign up. Round 4 will be parachutes. You have to give me a VERY good reason for me to wait for your flies after April 10. Otherwise, you will be dropped from the swap. BB
  11. I hope I have everyone updated as to the pattern you are going to tie. If I’ve missed someone, please remind me. BB
  12. Ok, Guys. Sorry to be so late getting in here today. Sunday’s aren’t as busy for me as they once were, but they are still busy. Woodenlegs And Pick6ofem, you guys are both in. However, that gives us 12 swappers and the ‘meister, so I have closed the swap early because we are full. First of these swaps that has filled up which is a good thing. Means I get more practice tying Dries. I’ve always said that my value to these swaps is more as a Swapmeister than as a tyer, and that is doubly try for dries and parachutes. But, with a full swap, and several guys tying more than one pattern, you are still getting a nice set of quality flies. I have come up with a couple of interesting ideas after parachutes, so we will probably go at least 2 more rounds after the original 4. I think you will like where we are going. Actually the ideas came from some of you with some refinements from me. BB
  13. Oops! John, I don’t know where my mind is. I almost forgot to add you to the lid. Glad I caught it in time. Also, dflanagan, Fishingbobnelson and Stabgnid, you guys are in also, and I’m very glad to have you all join us. BB
  14. Johnw1986’s flies arrived yesterday and they look really fine. That means that all sets are in but 1. I will let you know when they get here. BB
  15. Flat Rock Native, do you have any in a bright yellow? 😀 Guys, when I try to even the tips of kip tail in my hair stacker, nothing happens. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting the tips even? BB
  16. Niveker and r2732, you are both in and I’m very happy to have you both join us. BB
  17. Professori, you and Vicrider are in with pleasure. r2732, let me know for sure if you want in. Vic, thanks for the story. I enjoyed reading it. BB
  18. Thanks for asking, r2732, because it means I haven’t clarified what I’m after. To me, a Classic or Catskill Dry Fly has a tail, a body, a wing, and a dry fly hackle wrapped around the shank of the hook at the wing. There are sub-categories, perhaps, that describe the wing material, etc, but they are all still “Classic” Dry Flies to me. I am leaving out of this Round flies like the Parachute, Comparaduns, Foam Flies, etc. I use the terms “Classic” and “Catskill” inter-changeably. The Mr Rapidan, which I will be tying, I hope, calls for a Kip Tail Wing, but after yesterday’s attempt, I may substitute some type of synthetic material instead. I would consider a Hair Wing or Wulff pattern to be Classic. The key is the type of hackle material and how it is tied in. Hope this helps. If anyone needs further clarification, let me know. BB
  19. LTHIS SWAP IS FULL Ok Guys, as promised, here is the 3rd round of the Well-Stocked Fly Box series. This round is for Classic or Catskill Style Dry Flies. I hope at least 1 of those 2 terms, Classic or Catskill will clarify the type of fly we are looking for. If anyone is still unsure, let me know and I will describe it for you. Now, you need to know that I am WAY out of my comfort zone in tying Dry Flies, but there are guys here who do amazing work and I hope some of them will join us on this round. The swap is open to anyone who wants in, whether you have participated in previous rounds or not. If you have participated in previous rounds, you STILL have to let me know that you want to join this one. The swap is limited to the first 12 people who sign up. All the rules are the usual rules that we always follow here. If you want to know all the rules, please refer to the first thread of the first round. If you know which pattern you will be tying, let me know when you sign up. If you are interested, the next round after this will be Parachute Dry Flies. These quick turn around swaps have been working great, so, lets keep it going. BB Swapmeister - Mr Rapidan - Completed 1 Flat Rock Native - Blue Quill Variant -Received 2 Professori - TBD - Received 3 Vicrider - H&L Variant - Received 4 Niveker - Henryville Special - Received 5 Dflanagan - Received 6 Fishingbobnelson - Received 7 Stabgnid - Received 8 Johnw1986 - Received 9 Mark Knapp - Royal Coachman -Received 10 r2732 - Royal Trude - Received 11 Woodenlegs - Renegade -Received 12 Pickin6ofem - Received. 20. After marking the sets that we have received, it seems there are only 2 sets out. We have 2 more days until I post the 3rd round and only those who have their flies in will be eligible to sign in at that time. BB
  21. Ok, Samsonboi, hopefully the USPS will be unhindered the the swift completion of their rounds and get them here on time. In other news, we have received flies from r2732 and Stabgnid. Both excellent ties and they will definitely find a spot in the well-stocked fly box. BB
  22. YES! fishingbobnelson’s flies arrived yesterday. A snafu with this website kept me from filing that report last night. Everyone that was in Round 1 will get an extra fly from him and those in Round 2 only, will get his Round 2 fly. Glad this set made it here. Great work, Bob. BB
  23. I now have a tracking number for a package originating in Sacramento, Calif. I’m thinking that is Bob’s flies. Never got a tracking number for last month’s set. I wonder who has received a box of flies and is wondering why some guy named Fishingbobnelson sent them. BB
  24. We received flies today, from Vicrider. Again, 2 sets for all and very nicely tied. More great flies to add to the well-stocked fly box. Thanks, Vic BB
  25. We received a very nice set of flies from r dorlac. A super tie and another shoo-in for the well-stocked fly box. Thanks r dorlac. BB
