Blueman89 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 I'm guessing that is a Mayfly by the 3 tails, but what kind is it? Also, where did you find it?
rougetrout 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Nice picture. I vote mayfly as well. What size was the bug?

Frank G. Swarner III 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Isonychia/Slate Drake. Very fun to fish when the trout are on them. ~Chip
Guest Report post Posted May 25, 2005 Blueman89 , I found it about 5' from the water's edge. Rougetrout, it was about 3/4" long. There were quite a few dried by the sun on the rocks after the water went down. Leak
Guest Report post Posted May 26, 2005 There was a decent hatch going on that day, in fact that is the first mayfly hatch I have seen on this stream. There were at least two different species that I seen, one was a dark brown(almost black) and the other was a creamy yellow. Couldn't get close enough to catch one but they were on top the water and fly through the air all morning. There was some smaller fish(I'm guessing gills) that I seen take a few on top. Troutnut 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2005 That nymph is definitely Isonychia. Hard to know the species.
