dead_horse_bay_fisher 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2006 That somes it up. I read the article on furled leaders and they specify uni-thread. I want to know if that's any different than the Danville's thread that I use. Thanks in advance, dc
Guest Report post Posted May 6, 2006 Uni thread is round where Danville thread is mostly flat. I've never done furled leaders so I dont know what issues that could cause. :dunno:

Guest Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Uni thread is twisted and twisted thread is stronger than untwisted. It make sense that furled leaders would require Uni. For tying I don't use Uni thread, it builds up too much bulk for what I'm trying to tie.
dead_horse_bay_fisher 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 Ya gotta try a furled leader. Starting out to make one is a real pain at first, but you can quickly productionize the whole affair. I'm a new fly fisher and have just started to get my casting down. Furled leaders makes it a breeze. Thanks all for the info on the Uni-Thread. dc
letumgo 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2006 This fly tying catalogue has a great table (see pages 16 and 17) comparing different threads http://www.whitetailflytieing.com/PDF/Catalog2006.pdf Thanks Smalliehunter for posting previously. I have not ordered from these guys, but they have one of the most informative catalogues I've ever seen.
