little laker 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 I'm not 100% happy with this photo. It was the wrong time of the day, and powerlines got in the way a little But it was the perfect day for the pic, and and I love the fenceline in it.
Frogg07 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 I think it's a beautiful picture! It's 'dramatic', as well as 'serene and calm'. Well...to me anyway :dunno: Chris
JayMorr 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 Laker, Nice photo! I really love the clouds. Do you happen to have this photo in a RAW format? You might be able to manipulate the exposure a bit in RAW or even in PhotoShop. Here is some examples for you. I took your photo and did some things in PS. The first photo example I used the brightness and contrast. This second example I tried to bring out the sky using a Blue Photo Filter And your photo makes an excellent Black and White There is a bit of lens flare but you can see that using RAW or even PS, photos can change quite a bit. Great shot Laker! It looks great. Can't wait to see more of your stuff.
Graham 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 Beautiful scenery and composition. Taking two shots, one exposed for the sky, and the other exposed for the lanscape can quickly be layered and combined in Photoshop. I tried to bump up the foreground exposure... little laker 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 Thanks guy's Sorry I shot in JPG. Although I could still work witht he exposure and what not and do a HDR out of it It's close to my place, and I'd rather shoot it again when the conditions are right rather than mess around with this one. I went right past there 3 hours earlier, and could have taken the pic in perfect conditions, but I had a tight deadline to meet. just part of shooting the odd job for the paper I guess

Graham 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 Thanks Jay. Luckily this photo was quick and easy to adjust, because the lines are so clean which border the ground and sky, few trees. I clicked on "copy", then opened Photoshop, clicked on "new" then "paste. I did that twice, making two identical photos. On the first photo I clicked "image", "adjustments" and "exposure", and bumped up the light to brighten the foregound (the sky got blown out). Then I selected the "move" tool, and held down the "shift" key and dragged the original photo on top of the brighter one. Holding the shift key layers the photos identically. Then I simply used the eraser tool and erased the over dark foreground, revealing the underlayer. I then clicked on "layer", "flatten image", and just for fun, clicked on "filter", "render", lensflare".
JayMorr 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 Nice. I wondered if you used the Lens Flare filter. Nice touch.

letumgo 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 Gorgeous photography. You have a great eye for composition. Beautiful work on the enhanced versions of the first photo as well, guys. I enjoy seeing what the different possibilities are from the same photo. Really opens up my eyes to the creative options.

little laker 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Thanks Frogfish. It's right above the US border about 1/2 way across BC. I love the area, and there's always something interesting to photograph
Ashby 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Wow, you just made me want to play with the photos. Graham, what you did with the first photo, I tried and it worked like a charm. I also put about 5 seconds into the second picture as well, hope you don't mind little laker. I just added a little more color and saturation to the photo. Hope you like it.
