Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2004 Just came across this tip a couple days ago and hadn't heard any mention of it here so thought i'd pass it along since it seems like a handy tip. take a old bobin and load the spool of lead wire on it and feed it through the bobin tube as you would the thread. When you have to wrap a wieghted fly like a streamer now you have a handy&easy was of doing it.

Joel 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 I saw this a couple years ago and tried it but the lead kept breaking at the bobbin as I passed it around the hook metal fatigue? But I kept it in the bobbin a great way to position lead on the sides of the hook or on top, your post got me rethinking and it dawned on me I should be rotating the vice like any other body matrial instead of passing it from hand to hand it works great. Thanks for giving the old brain a nudge. Joel
Gregg A 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2004 I've been using lead wire on a bobbin for years and it does work great, especially of a rotating vice. If you dont use a rotating vice then try going a little slower so the wire doesnt break.
