wayneb 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 Hi FredH; Glad to see they made it! It's funny, when I strated tying this pattern I thought I was doing it all wrong! When dry I think it's quite a homely looking fly, when in the water it's a different story! When wet the copper tinsel comes alive in the sunlight and the burnt orange marabou looks almost like blood! I tested my first few ties on gills in local community pond and they literally tore it up! Also, I sent you some flies tied with a red glass bead head, let me know what you think of them in comparison. Wayneb
Fred H. 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 will try both this afternoon Wayne and let you know.At my pond the 4" and above gills are very selective and offer a good sounding board for new colors or patterns. Though to be fair I should hold response till I fished it on a darker day.would like to try it on a bright and dark day to see in which light they see it better. Can't try it in the shallows as they are bedding now and will crush anything that comes near.As far as I'm concerned I like them both but am intrigued by the red bead,it adds another color range to the fly.could make the difference .If it does I'll by so many beads from Hobby Lobby they'll think I'm hosting a slumber party.
