tye2fly 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 tight wraps making sure not to mat down any hackle fibers from previous wrap. another good tool for you to have would be a hackle gauge, that will tell you how long the hackle fibers should be for the size hook you use. mouse6196 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 Definately wrap them slow and not overlapping each other. I use a rotary vide which I find makes easier wrapping. iso18 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 Trim butt ends of hackle to about 1/8 inch,so your thread will grasp the hackles better,therefore reducing slippage.tie hackles in so-shiny side of hackle is facing you with the butt ends pointing toward the hook eye.And as a general rule,three wraps behind the wings and two in front. hope this helps shane Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
