Old Hat 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2009 Well done again. That hook looks like a holder for sure.
Soft-hackle 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2009 Thanks, Old Hat. The hook was suggested to me by Hans Weilenmann. Made in S. Africa, I believe, but they are now available, here in the USA. Grip has a pretty nice line of hooks, including these. Mark
leighs52 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2009 Lovely, as always, Mark. Why don't we Yanks use more flies in claret? There are a ton of British Isles patterns in claret, but hardly any used here. Is that because of different bugs, or just different habits? I haven't a clue. Leigh
Chase Creek 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2009 If someone were to ask my favorite color for bodies, it would be claret. Very nice tie Mark. Thanks for posting. (like the choice of hook also)
Soft-hackle 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2009 Thanks, Gentlemen, Chase-- These hooks are really nice. Lots of "implied action". leighs--I have no idea why Claret is not all that popular, here. I have always found it great color to use. Mark
