I'm hooked on swinging classic style flies !! These greatlakes steelhead really seem to like them too . Here's one of my creations that has been producing well so far on my home waters .... hope you like it .

King's Crowne

 

Hook: Partridge CS10/1

Tag: Gold tinsel

Butt: Golden yellow silk

Tail: Golden pheasant crest , over which is Golden pheasant tippet

Body: Black seal dubbing

Rib: Medium gold tinsel

Hackle: Furnace schallapan , one side stripped , counter ribbed with fine gold wire

Collar: Dark Brown rhea herl and guinea hen

Wing: Two Golden pheasnt rump feathers

Eyes: Jungle cock nails

Regal looking fly, Mike! :D I love the golden pheasant wing. I've been trying to work more golden pheasant feathers into my flies lately. Seems to be an under utilized source of materials.

I'm a big fan of GP , especially tied as a flatwing .... the fish like it too !! I'll be heading out today to "test" a few more patterns of this series .
