Dubb J B 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2009 A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by flydoc: Bwo <img src="uploads/img4b0371a810503.jpg"> Great pattern. The CDC is a nice touch. Are the European BWO's are a little bigger than what we have in the western US? I'd be hard-pressed to find anything larger than an 18 hook around here - Usually a 20 or 22 especially the fall hatch.

flydoc 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2009 I think they are a little bigger, but the range again. We tie the smaller especially when fish Grayling. Tie them from 12 to 22 My friend from Minneapolis them tie to 16 hook.

Firetiger 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2009 QUOTE (Dubb J B @ Nov 18 2009, 05:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are the European BWO's are a little bigger than what we have in the western US? I'd be hard-pressed to find anything larger than an 18 hook around here - Usually a 20 or 22 especially the fall hatch. I never had a chance to fish the Western USA, but the olives in Central Europe are about #14-16 in spring hatch (April/May) and #18 in fall (October/November). The spring ones are like this one, the October ones are a bit more to dark side - I use gold ribbed hare's ear and normal CDC.
