Joe Overlock 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 After years and years of dreaming about it, I finally booked an Atlantic Salmon trip. We're fishing in the Restigouche River this May and am looking for a second (or third) opinion on what flies to tie. I've been directed to Doak's website and have already started working on the "Black Bear Green Butt" pattern in a variety of sizes. Any suggestions? What about nymphs and dries? TitanFlies 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 A winter stone or a Kauffmans stone would work for nymphs... that's exhausting my Atlantic Salmon knowledge. You might have more luck in the Salmon panel.
Denis Lamy 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 Any suggestions? What about nymphs and dries? Might want to ask the local guys what they use: http://www.restigouche.org/
Denis Lamy 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 Here's another link where you might find some information, the FQSA: http://tinyurl.com/yhn6zq8
David Legg 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 I would also tie the Black Bear in an orange butt version and some bombers for dries, but Denis is right about checking with the local guides. In the area of New England I used to fish, certain colors or patterns seemed to be "locally" hot.
