Firetiger 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2010 The pale mayflies of summer will soon replace the Mayfly and for that time in none too distant future I propose the following imitation: The body is Pearsall's Primrose silk thread, well waxed and lightly dubbed with Mole fur (= the old) The tail is Coq de León and the wing is Cul de Canard (= the new) Cheers! Firetiger 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2010 Thanks guys! Appreciate your kind comments. I created the fly with a specific situation in mind - or more specifically a specific fish in mind. This Sunday I met a grayling that was rising about a four meters from me (about one and half rod lengths - that is darn close!). Grayling are not spooky in general and this one was not spooky at all. During the course of about a half an hour I showed him the contents of 2 fly boxes and he showed no interest in any of them, all the time sipping something from the film. I thought this one just might do the trick where others failed...
