Stefan 1967 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2011 Stefan, what thred are you using? To me it seems that the head needs some more attention I would use a 17\0 on that flie. Hello Marian, for nymphes and wet´s of this size I usually use Uni thread 6/0. I think 17/0 is too thin to form the head (my opinion) You are from Romania ? Where from ? I´ve been there on business trips to Sibiu, Bucarest, Constanca, Blaj and some places I didn´t catch the names. Do you have good fly fishing areas in RO? Stefan 1967 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2011 Hi, That is my final post to the brush of the olive springs. Please find attached a photo of my interim solution for tying the paraloop. For the moment a use a second vice (a friend´s vice) to do. "Paraloop binden" means "tying of the paraloop" Next step will be to modify my vice. MarianC 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2011 Sorry for the late response, I have been busy restocking my flie box ) I m from Sibiu, there are some nice trout waters around here, if you would come in the summer, and have a free week-end, I can show you around Here is the past summer I use 17\0 for nymphs and 8\0 for dry or wet flies The great advantage with the 17 \ 0 thread, is that you can tie very well with minimum wraps of thread

I usually tie nymphs on hooks size 10 - 14. A very thin thread (17/0) makes no sense due to the fact that I realize also the head with the thread. 17/0 I use for dries size 14 and smaller. MarianC 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2011 Usually when I tie nymphs, a tungsten bead is in place of the head, that's why the 17\0 thred, it slips right behind the bead. That is the perfect way to protect the knot from the trout's teeth On wet flies, a 8\0 Black is my favorite thread
