jhammer 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2011 Well, today I went for a short journey down to the Maumee River with my trusty fly rod. I sure wish I had rope flies with me because there were longnose gar everywhere! Of course, the channels and freshwater drum kept me plenty busy, even though I had many bites and lost quite a few. I wrote an article I'll include here as well about fly fishing for drum. I use a variation of the chuck-and-duck method. Basically, I use a large amount of weight and a strike indicator and kinda "heave" it out there. Very effective and loads of fun. Today's fly was a chartreuse woolly worm on a size 8 hook.
