Simon Lidster 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2012 Next year I'll be visiting Keystone. Colorado at the beginning of August. Anyone got any recommendations on where to fly-fish and what patterns to tie? Thanks in advance, Simon
blakejd 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2012 The most obvious is the Blue. There is a little stream in town as well (I haven't fished it). You won't be lacking places to fish in summit county. As far as patterns you could check the hatch charts and just go with the standard imitations of those flies. Mostly standard trout flies from my experience in that area with a little twist here and there.
FlyFishin Fool 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2012 I used to live in CO and loved fishing below the Dillion Dam in Silverthorne, not that far from Keystone. Beside the fact that if you get below the bridge you have foreign tourists screaming at you to cast "just a little bit further, he's right over there" or "you missed him, cast again" I am not an accomplished flyfisherman but I hooked up quite a few times and brought a small handful to the net. I believe there is a fly shop very very close to the bridge and I've heard it is very good.
