So.... When you tie a classic wet fly, are the wings supposed to curve towards each other or away from each other? I saw on this website that he is tying them so they are curving towards each other. Ya, a figured about the the tail was too fat. As for the red on top of the yellow.......... shows what you get for following a recipe from FlyTyer Magazine (j/k) I did use only 2 strands of floss, but I think I went forward and back and then forward again, so I guess I shouldn;t have done that. You might consider trying "Tuffleye" It is a pretty cool product. There was a write up on it in FlyTyer Magazine, in the Spring 2008 issue page 70. We also had a fellow who sells it come out to our Fly Tying Club (Northern Lights Fly Tyers and Fishers) and do a presentation. its pretty darn cool. Okay, so you have the product, and you dispense it from the bottle (no mixing), there are a couple of different tips for dispensing. Okay, so it comes out a kind of viscous stuff quit similar to working with Epoxy. However, you can play with it and mold it as long as you want. Once it is where you want it, you shine a special LED flashlight (fluorescent) on it, and it instantly hardens. It comes out perfectly clear and doesn't stain like epoxy sometimes does. An excellent alternative to Epoxy. Here's a couple of fly pictures from their webpage. The only bad part is that the initial cost is fairly high. So if you wouldn;t really use it very much. I would probably just stick with epoxy. There are 3 different kits, including the product and the LED flashlight etc, prices ranging from $80 to $90 bucks. I think this one turned out alright. But I think the tail is a little too fat. It should be a few barbs less of each color I think. Not bad though. This was the first time I actually married mallard feather together. Questions? Comments? Sarcastic Remarks? Justin

Ha ha. After I tied this one I clued in that I totally forgot the silver tag. And all I had for the wings, was a natural duck quill instead of the the dark slate goose. Oh well. You use what you have. And who follows recipes anyways....... Justin

Well, the other day, I got tired of not having a waste catcher, so I made myself up one. Well..... I designed it basically, and then I had my wife sew it. Its a little "trashy" (he he he) I know. But it works great. any thoughts? Justin

Its a hopper pattern. I'll grant the colors are a little interesting, but the sillouette is great. You could change the colors quite easily. Justin
