I have a nor vise with the rotating base. I never use the feature , I all but loctited it recently. Love the vise otherwise. I would never turn down a law. Only othervise that intrigues me is the jvise. It is so smooth and if you like gadgets and options there are more than enough different things to keep the tyer with add occupied.
But will probably keep tying on the norvise until my hands or eyes fail. It just keeps on going.

I like the camo. Its their plain ones that look silly. I fish alot in maine and dont want to look like a tourist. Lol. I have a great realtree camo hat but i left it at the inlaws in florida and cant find a duplicate up here. I will check out cabelas.

I am looking for a good fishing hat now that is waterproof and breathable. I was thinking boonie style but was not thrilled with the ones columbia puts out for they look kind of silly
At least on me they do. Any suggestions.

Sure. Light machine oil combined with 0000 or 000 stainless steel wool should be fine.

Can you post pictures of various popper faces? When i turned plugs i cut most fairly deep but cut the face at an angle. So it was shallow at the bottom it tended to throw more h20. But that was with a spinning reel.

Great advice. Thanks.

I have been using my dremel like a lathe and its pretty amazing how fast real cork shapes at 33000 rpm. Its the cupped faces i am having trouble with. I have set up my first two on tubes. As i did not have any good popper hooks.

Flat or cup faced? I have been working on cork poppers and was curious to see what ideas people had on this. Each have benefits. Cupped throw a lot of water and make a good amount of noise. Flat work well in rough waters and are easier to make .
Any other thoughts on this. And does anyone have a good source for a 5/8 to 3/4 hss round cutter?

If its otter it will have a dense coat. Might make great dubbing. A steal at 25c.

If you are not cutting wire or kevlar with the tungsten you may never need to sharpen them.
I have scissors that are 20 years old (not 6th finger) but are as sharp as when i got them. If
you buy a good pair buy a cheaper pair for the rough work and you can always sharpen
Them .

All things being equal there is not much different in price. I say go with the one you like best.

I have both the lg jaws and the fine. I find myself using the fine nearly all the time. I have plenty of room behind the hook. And i have big hands.
-
Its size A , i just did not know why i even bought it. I was hoping to find a use for it eventually.
-
That looks great. Far better than my first tube. That will definitely catch fish.

I found several spools while organizing my new tying desk. Not sure why i bought this, I dont make my own rods. What is this stuff good for?

Another option for a base might be a piece of sheet rubber. Wont cut thru or dull the blade.

You can use any cones just use a drill bit in a dremel just takes a second to ream it out. Probably cheaper too. No clue on the turbo cones.

I have never bought hooks from him but i do have one of his fly boxes and its really great.
Fast shipping and great customer service. Cant ask for much more.

You can get one thru wasatch but they are nearly 500$. Either way you pay in the end
-
You can get a nor-vise with midge jaws for around 300$. If you are doing mostly drys and streamers. It would be ideal.

Kevin it looks great. Jc or no jc that will catch fish.

Also you can make a slide out keyboard tray into a waste catcher. Just cut out a hole and insert a plastic shopping bag and no more scraps on the floor. That equals happy mom.

Jack gartside had some fly patterns that used coypu (nutria) as the primary component.

And if you have an ikea nearby you can get a desk cheaply there. You have to assemble it your self but its pretty easy. I second the plastic storage drawer unit. But get big ziplocs or a sealable storage tub for the bucktails. Some smell off. And might attract bugs.

Its a shame that people take advantage of the generosity of others. I used to participate in more fly swaps but not so much lately.
