  1. What can I say.......Leif. This fly is a real credit to you. This is the sort of fly that gives people on this site a lot of inspiration. At the moment I'm tying an "art" fly, and now can't wait till it's finished to take a crack at the Perlodes. Well done Leif.............Alan
  2. Thanks again guys for the nice comments, but Mr. Whillock deserves the credit for this fly design........I just tied it LOL. I'm trying to make time to tie a few "art" flies of my own design, so when I finish the first one, you guys will be the first to see it. I'm doing a bit of research on the first one at the minute, so it will hopefully be ready before Christmas. Thanks Again, Alan
  3. Sorry guys, couldn't change the name from "none", so I just re-submitted the fly....................my bad

  5. Hello again guys,(took some more time off work to write this so sssshhh). Thanks for the comments. For SullyTM, the colouring is actually very simple, the underbody dubbing is a pale yellow with the outer body flexi-body. After the fly is complete, a black marker is run over the entire body. Then a yellow marker is used to "rub out" parts of the black marker that was previously used. Remember not to touch the ventral side (underneath) the fly as insects are usually lighter under the body. Thanks again
  6. Thanks guys, it's not too often I get to pop in hence the name of the fly...."NONE". How do I change that by-the-way? I've had a quick pop in from time-to-time and the standard is STILL going UP! The latest look at the tadpoles was very impressive. I would like to have more time to log in and write more comments but working long hours does not permit it. (Must try to to make a better effort........quit work!!!!!). Thanks again for the comments and any questions (especially for those starting out) I would be glad if I could help. Alan

  8. Hi Guys, Sorry I've been away so long. I have been checking in from time-to-time and the standard has gone through the roof!! So, I made a little time this week to throw my own contribution into the ring. But I ain't got any global bytes left to upload an image, or so it says.......anyone got any ideas? OK Got it!
  9. Hi MTelkhaircaddis, I am a tier from N.Ireland and have been Tying for about 17 years. I have a vast amount of knowledge in the field....especially reallistics and would love to help you out if I can. I'm very new to this site myself and like to watch the way people progress in their tying skills. It's a shame I think that those willing to learn about such a genuine past time have to fork out a lot of money (in some cases) just to find out a few "secrets" on how to tie a more reallistic looking fly. So, like I say, if you have any questions on virtually anything to so with tying, just give me a bell........... mayflyman.
  10. Thanks Graham. The legs are Porcupine guard hair of which the are many uses. Let me know how you get on trying them out..... Later guys..........
  11. Hi guys, sorry I took so long I've been a bit busy so here's something I put together tonight. As far as Golden stoneflies go, I don't tie them very often, especially the adult (as the photo shows). So if any of you guys have a few high res photos of some adults, they would be gratefully recieved. Thanks Graham for the winging technique it's very effective I just changed the colour slightly so I dont know accurate it really is. Any critisism will be welcomed.
  12. Hey guys, here it is, challenge no. 5. Still kicking myself for missing out on the first three. Salmonfly thats one hell of a stonefly, nice legs.........and dont take that out of context! and Graham.......I heard you had a few skills around that vice of yours and they weren't wrong, excellent stuff. What are you people using for wings!!!!!!!!! Poor old Irish folk here have to revert to using the old fashioned method of placing cut hair between two pieces of raffia. Anyway, my entry is arriving soon , so keep them coming........Good work all.
  13. Hey people, just thought I would give you a better look at the fly without the silly flash on! Graham, I believe you got your nymph skin today let me know what you think. I think you'll pleasantly surprised. If you don't have it in green, use translusent and mark it with a permanent marker. If I can be of any help to anyone (especially on nymph skin) just shout! Later, guys..................
  14. Thanks a million for the guide Graham. Glad you like the flies........
