Have you ever tried a new wing material sold under the name "Himalayan sheep" ? The hairs are up to 13 cm long. Jens

  5. Hi Temple dog is both. A. it a material (hair coming from a dog) B. A tying style invented by the Swedish fly tyer Haakan Norling back in 1990. Basically it is a tube fly where the upper most layer of the wing is tied on reverse and then folded back over the under wing to make a high profile wing that is very mobile in the water. Jens

  7. Chrisfish The wing is build up with temple dog hair (you can do almost the same with good quality artic fox) and mixed with angle hair (flash) Jens
  8. Hi John I an glad you mention that you the flybefore my class A few remarks (tying tips). A. Even when you only use one colour in the wing you have to build it up with at least 3 sections to be able to taper it right 1. lenght of the body, 2. 1/3 longer 3. 1/3 longer. B. Be very carefull not finish the fly with a build up head because then you end up with a space between the wing/hackle and the cone. But dont worry a fly that catches fish - works! Jens

  18. Hi all Ever tied or fished with tube flies? in Scandinavia tube flies are becoming the most used fly type for Atlantic salmon and sea trout. Especially cone head tube flies is in a class of their own. If not then join the tube fly class on 18th November. And you will also have this kind of success! regards Jens

  20. Hi There is no stupid questions Temple dog is both a style of tying (invented by Hakan Norling from Sweden 20 years ago) and a type of hair coming from dogs. I have never seen the bread "Temple dog" though. regards jens

  24. Redwings There is no connecting tube. Take a look at my updated post on the cone head tube fly class there you can see the answer. The hook is just pressed into the rear of the tube. regards jens
