  1. In biology class we are studying genetics, and my teacher uses a white chicken and a black chicken as an example. With codominant alleles they will breed and make a black/white checkered chicken. You know what i'm thinking? Mmm...grizzly hackle...where can I get a white chicken and a black chicken... Go ahead! Finish the sentence! You know you've got it bad when...
  2. Griffin has a big ceramic bobbing made for tying large bass, pike, and salwater flies. I know Cabela's has it too. Might be worth trying out. ~Bryce
  3. I've seen some good deals in the wanted ads before. You could try that. ~Bryce
  4. Wow! Beautiful fish! If you don't mind, could you give a link to the thread about your trip? I would like to read that!
  5. Wow! Superb, guys! Congrats! Is there any way I can find a larger picture? ~Bryce
  6. Dang, hope it's nothing serious. Good luck and hopefully you'll be back at the vise soon!
  7. Very cool bench Steelie! Maybe I need to add a little character to my bench. It's pretty plain right now.
  8. I had a feling that would probably work. Thanks. ~Bryce
  9. I was looking at some instructions for tying scuds, and it said to use thinskin for the back. Well, I don't have any thinskin and to me, it just looked like plastic. :dunno: Is there anything I can substitute for thin skin? Thanks. ~Bryce
  10. A little bit similar to a brassie, only with a bead head? Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll have my box full of productive flies in no time. ~Bryce
  11. I want biots for flies like prince nymphs.
  12. Ok, thanks. The part about the wide wingcase is my problem. Mine is just too darn narrow once I pull it forward. So I'll use your tip. ~Bryce PS What can I substitute for biots? I don't currently have any.
  13. Thanks, guys. About the pheasant tail, I have tried that one before, but I just can't get the wingcase right. Any tips?
  14. Anyone know of any productive, yet simple nymphs for a noobie tyer to attempt? Thanks! ~Bryce
  15. How big of a leader do you use when doing that?
  16. I just can't cast a fly like that on a light rod. Maybe I just need more practice.
  17. That's nearly a year more experience than I have!
  18. I usually tie a size 6, but that makes casting it on my 5 wt. a little difficult. What sizes to you guys tie buggers in?
  19. I was fishing a small stream this past New Year's Day and I had been using midges, but I came across this nice big, deep hole about a mile away from where I parked. It was about 8 ft. across and 3 1/2 ft. deep. I saw how deep it was and tied on a Wooly Bugger. I made a cast at the bank on the opposite side, and the first strip of the line I made, I hooked up. An 18" Brown was later at my feet. Believe it or not this was the one time I didn't have a camera with me.
  20. I certainly couldn't have done any better! Great job! Keep up the good work! ~Bryce
  21. Mine was a bugger, and it was just last month... Since then I've come quite a ways and my tying knowledge has grown immensly.
  22. Wooly Bugger In warm deep water...a Clouser.
  23. Oh, and I picked up some Metz dry fly hackle today that is a load of fun to tie with. ~Bryce
