  1. Will, This has to one of the best ideals for beginning fly tiers and those of us that think we have made it to a higher level. I had to set down, get the book out and thru trial and error learn how to tie flies. Your ideal is a prefect way that a new comer to the world of Fly Tying can get the help some of us had to learn the hard way. Count me in on whatever assistance I can provide. Now for a suggestion... What if????? Those of us that think we tie a good fly, tie up one or two (or even a group) of our favorite flys. Send them to you. The flies are then catagorize (saltwater, drys, nymphs, ect.) and sold on Ebay. They could be marketed as "Hand tied" and from some of the countries best tyers. The money gained from the sales would go to keeping the program going. That way, the Organization gets (free) world wide recognition and exposer on Ebay. You could also promote the classes in the sales. I for one, and I know there are others out there, love to set down with a patterns book, find a fly and spend hours trying to see just how good I can make this fly. Anyways, it was just a thought to add to the complexity of everything else you do. :hyst: Thanks for all the hard work you put in. Ralph aka top cop 35
  2. Well guys here we go. First vice I had was a Griffith 2A. Then on to the little brown travelling box kit with the vise from Cabelas. I then fooled around with about every vise I saw on other fly tyers tables and ended up with a rotory Apex (about $85.00). I kept searching for the "right " vise for me. I then picked up a knock off version of a renzetti rotory. (Great vise for the price $125.00) Now here's a hint that might work or not for ya'll but it worked for me. I began hitting a Casino and telling the wife I was losing money . ( bought 2 new Powell rods and hid them) She came up with an incentive for me not to go to the Casino. Buy any vise you want. Nor-vise traveler in the mail now. I will let you know how it works for me. TC
  3. Howdy, I also just got the vise and the bobbin(s). One thing I read and learned (the hard way I may add) is if the tention wont stay and it wont re wind then simply turn the spool around on the bobbin. I found there is one way the thread has to come off the spool or it wont activate the clutch. Hope this fixes your problem. TC
