  1. Thanks Conehead. I must admit the 6 lb. channel cat I caught recently with my 5 wt. put up quite a fight. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions later.
  2. Hello everyone, I think it's about time for me to introduce myself now that I've learned all there is to know about fly fishing off these boards.. just kidding. I live in south west Georgia and I just took up fly fishing last year but have been a fisherman most of my life. I've really taken to fly fishing although I doubt I'll give up on my casting gear anytime soon. I have just started tying a little mostly just wooly buggers and clousers and they aren't real pretty but I've managed to catch quite a few panfish and bass on them anyway. My biggest bass so far was just over 31/2 lbs caught at night last year on a deer hair mouse (I didn't tie it, lol) at the lake but that will be easy to top this year if the wind will ever back off a little. I was out today on Seminole and had my fly rod along but the wind was blowing 15-20 mph so I used my flipping rod instead. Caught the one pictured on an 8" grub about 10 ft deep off the sand along the edge of the flats. I can't wait until the topwater bite begins which should be any day now. I almost forgot.....this is a great site and it's helped me to learn a lot in a short period of time. Thanks! Jim
  3. Hi all, I started fly fishing last year and I'm just getting started tying my own flies. I've been a bass fisherman using mostly casting gear since the early 60's and just turned 54 last month.
