  8. Hi Guys, last night I put on-line a new video and a sbs article about a nice parachute fly that I presented in the past in my book titled "Flies - Mosche da pesca". I have tied this pattern by fixing a small steel stirrup at the base of the wing and winding around it the cock hackle. The result is a fly with a stronger structure, so that it can be used in many fishing outings. This is the link to the piece and the video: http://www.moscofilia.com/blue-quill-parachute-english.html

  14. Hi Will, this technique was developed by Aimé Devaux, a French angler/fly tiers, several years ago and some of his flies became a "must" in my country. Patterns such as the Devaux 699 are still very popular and many fishermen continue to use them for fishing trout and grayling: you can find the video of this fly on my web site DEVAUX 699 Regarding the Olive Devaux, this is a my personalized pattern tied with the Devaux technique and I developed it for fishing expecially at the beginning of the trout season, because on many rivers where I go there are high concentration of Baetis rhodani, which are well imitated by this fly Ciao Luca
  15. Hi Guys, I have uploaded a new video on my Youtube channel, proposing in this occason a "reworking" of those ephemeral imitations tied with the Devaux technique. My fly wants to appear similar to those olive mayflies quite popular on many rivers and it can help us to allure some nice trout that are feed on hatching insects. This is the link to watch it OLIVE DEVAUX I hope you like it Luca

  18. Hi Guys, I have decided to launch a new column on my web site in which I wish to propose a selection of articles about fly fishing, writing about trout, salmon, sea bass and all the other fish species I have had the opportunity to catch with the fly rod. The text of all these articles will be mostly in Italian, but if you use a web translator you can understand it. I have just added a piece about the Erriff, one of the beautiest salmon river in Ireland, and I hope it can be of some help for an angler interested to visit this nice spot. This is the link SALMONI DI SMERALDO (emerald salmon) Ciao Luca
  19. Hi Guys, a few months ago I uploaded on my Youtube channel a video in which I describe how to tie one of the most popular flies in the fishing field: the Royal Wulff. This dry fly has US origin, but thanks to its strong alluring power has become one of the favourite for many fly fishermen all around the world and it counts a lot of fans also in my country. This is the link to watch the video and to read my article: ROYAL WULFF Ciao Luca
  20. Many thanks my friends! I use this fly mostly for sea bass fishing, but I have an idea that it can work also for catching striped bass and I will be glad if some one of you can put it under test and confirm my supposition. Ciao Luca

  22. Hi Guys, I have just posted on my Youtube channel a new video. In this occasion I describe how to tie the Shining Mullet, a mullet imitation with a structured quite similar to a Thunder Creek or to a Surf Candy. I often use this fly as a first choice when I am trying to catch a sea bass. Its alluring power is so strong thanks to the mobility characteristic of the arctic fox hair. Ciao Luca
  23. Hi Guys, althought this is not a forum for the classic salmon flies, I wish to present to all of you an article I have realized about one of the beautiest Traherne fly. Two years ago I decided to tie the Black Argus, probably one of more complicated challenge in my experience as a fly tyer. With the help of my friend Mike I started to apply feather after feather on a hook and the result become a fly more beautiful than my expectation. While I built my Black Argus I took a step by step photographic sequence and with this materials I wrote the article that you can read now on this link THE BLACK ARGUS I hope you like it and that it can be useful for someone in future. Ciao Luca
  24. FlyFishin'Jam also quite interested in this hitch 'IL NODO A CAPPIOLA'. What does that one do to the action? This is the knot I use to connect to my leader tip the dry flies. For photographic reason I have used in the article a large salt water streamer hook, but the Nodo a Cappiola is perfect for all those dry flies tied on classic down-eye hooks. I am using Fas-snap for all my salt water and pike fishing: they are excellent to connect and quickly change the flies to the leaders, without the problem to reduce the lenght of the tip when you tie a new knot. Luca
