mitch aka 2 fish 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2006 I reckon this is the forum to ask. I'm thinking of purchasing an Abel Supreme vise. Does anyone own one and was it worth it? Thank you very much, Shawn Mitchell Perth Australia.

bowfin47 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2006 I've been tying on an Abel Supreme for a couple of years . I like it . It's a good sable platform.
adso4 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2006 Many reviews of it I have read say that it is well-made and strong but overpriced. Why don't you check DK Barracuda?
Guest Report post Posted December 31, 2006 If I was going to spend that much money, I'd go a couple of dollars more and buy a LAW.

Troutbum2 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2006 Have never tied on the Supreme but did tie on the Abel Aluminum. Very nice vise, a bit pricy for the Supreme. The Aluminum is the same design but some of the brass parts are replaced by machine aluminum. Priced right around where the Renzetti Presentation vises are. Probably about where they should be. If the extra $200 or so is worth the style points, go for it or spend $349 and grab the "lesser" Abel
Hywel 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2007 I own an Abel Supreme - probably one of the last Supremes actually machined by Abel since their buy-out. It's extremely smooth and well-made, and attractive. However, buying my Supreme directly from Abel was a customer service nightmare and one of the worse purchasing experiences I've ever had - and that greatly diminishes the 'pleasure' of owning an Abel Supreme. I also own several other vises - including a Stonefly Vise, a DK Ron Abbey Signature Model, a DanVise, a Petitjean Vise, a Griffin Mongoose, an HMH Tube Fly Vise, a Snowbee/Waldron Vise, and a NorVise. And for the record - I still dress 95% of my flies on the NorVise. It is a joy to tie on, and the ownership and customer service experience is second-to-none.
