nrthcsteel 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 Been wanting to tie some blind eye hooks up for fishing. I used 30 lb dacron backing for the eye and tied it in well back on the hook. Shewey describes using this method. Hopefully it will hold. Great flies by all lately as ususal. Its tied on an AJ 1.5 blind eye hook. Hope you enjoy. Joe Hard 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2007 :headbang: Very nice. Its my understanding that was the orriginal way to tie n a peice of gut. That the butt was just there to cover up the space left by the gut ends at the tip of the hook point.
Frank G. Swarner III 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2007 Very nice Kevin....I would have no problem swinging that baby all day. Are you going to put "sno-seal" on the dacron "eye"? I remember John Shewey mentioning it in his book, but I don't think he stated why. I guess it helps the dacron stay supple after it goes through the fishing and drying stages a few times.
