Taking pics of flies

Recommended Posts

I just got a camera (HP R817) but i'm having a tough time taking pictures of flies with the super macro setting. They all turn out blurry even though the camera is steady. Any idea what is wrong and how i should fix it?

Could this be the problem? You're not within these focusing ranges?

Focusing ranges for the R817:

Focus range Macro: Wide 0.12 m - 1 m (4.7 in. - 39.4 in.)

Super Macro: 0.03 m - 0.2 m (1.2 in. - 7.9 in.)

when youre in the macro setting, depress the shutter only 1/2 of the way down to let the camera focus on the subject and then depress the shutter the rest of the way down to take the foto.

a tripod gets rid of the shakes!

KC,

I assume that you're using a tri-pod as macro shots without one are almost impossible.

Do you have a remote or self timer option for the shutter release? Try using the self timer to avoid movement. It doesn't take much movement when using macro to blurr the shot.

What's your resolution set at? It should be set at the highest resolution you have.

Is your distance away from your subject okay?

What's your aperture setting? Maybe you've got too limited depth of field.

Would pretty much have to see a shot to help figure out what the problem is.
