letumgo 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2007 Gorgeous fly! If that is "improvised" I would surely like to see one you "planned". Your fly rocks buddy! :headbang:

Hywel 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2007 Hey Guys, Thanks very much for the kind words! The fly really is improvised in that I wanted to combine the elements of a hair-winged fly and have the movement of a (modern) Marabou Spey,...plus I was able to use some of the scraps on my tying table. The next variant will be thinned out a little using some some boffo purple Rhea I copped from Jack Cook and winged with peacock or Mallard. Hywel Hywel Thank God it is not an I.E.D. Great fly. This one will surely be very alive in the water and I like that dirty little orange head. Regards Jens

Didn't Roy Angus Thompson once conduct an informal experiment that supported his thinking that a Salmonid will take a fly with a red-varnished head over a black one?
