Guest Report post Posted May 14, 2008 Hi, flytierforheir, this is an old photo I took a few years back, should give the general impression, this is a UK March Brown imitation OK ?? As to recipes, folks, use the local favourites as they will have the refined trigger points for your local trouts. Then go testing, enjoy, Roy
flytyierforheir 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 Wow thanks, looks great. I've never been to the uk, but a march brown can't look that much diffrent can it? Great fly
Guest Report post Posted May 14, 2008 Yup, the MB down here are very similar to those in the US. When you go north, through Scotland and up into Scandinavia, the same insect is much more purple - that is the one in the shot. You would find it difficult to tell the difference between the East Coast US variety and the insect in Wales and England. Thanks for the kind words, Roy
flytyierforheir 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 If you get a chance, you said that the ones further north of you are more purple? Try the UV ice dubbing in tan, its a Hairline Dubbin' product i beleive, i use it on my purple haze pattern, which is a local sowbug (isopod) that has a purple tint to it, its a killer dubbing. Pick some up next time you get a chance.

Guest Report post Posted August 12, 2008 Thank you all, it's a reversed parachute, not an Avon Special. The Avon Special is like this one on Hans Weilenmann's website http://www.danica.com/flytier.... see this... http://www.danica.com/flytier/rchristie/avon_special.htm and The Reversed Parachute is like so... Swede, the sulfur in the tank, looking at you has added eyes and a wing of woodduck take a look back at posts #4 and #5 on page 1 of this thread heppy tying, Roy
