Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2004 Vices wanted to share this tip so i'm posting this for him...thanks for sharing vices. the tip is- using a bic pen cap for as a hair packer... the natural shape makes it easy to wrap a few times before the packer even leaves the hair, holding it exactly as you left it. You can also use the cap to hold bach hackle on any fly your having difficulty holding back.. make sure its bic though.. i have tried to substitute this with no luck.. has a hole in the top that will fit most hooks you could tye with
Guest Report post Posted July 28, 2004 Oh........it says hair packer. Yes a bic works well. It also works well for a half hitch tool.
Guest Report post Posted July 29, 2004 An old felt-tip pen with the tip removed works very well too.
Guest Report post Posted August 3, 2004 I looked to see if I hadn't already posted this idea somewhere in the earlier threads; didn't find it: Clothes Buttons. Must be an 'old fogie' thing

mitch 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2004 The stick portion of push-pops. Great for packing hair on #4 hooks. This hard-plastic tube is also good for tube flies. Buy your kids (or you) some push-pops and add to your bench without your wife ever the wiser. Just tell your kids not to throw them away. Take care all, Mitch
