rougetrout 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 Iuse mostly orvis and danville chenille. Orvis has quite a few colors of varigated chenille which are two or more colores mixed, when wrapped on a hook it adds a nice pattern to the body of the fly which can imitate scale patterns for woolly buggers or muddlers and gives woolly worms an interesting looks. they usually stock 3 sizes at the fly shop I go too. I have also started to use really small size erstaz to as a substitute for chenille. It has a bunch more flash and action. give it a try.

stel 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2004 I didn't know there were different kinds. However, when tying some ESl tonight I noticed a bit of a difference in some of the orange and black. Guess I will have to pay attention more. Is it my turn to go salmon fishing yet:(

Guest Report post Posted August 21, 2004 Except for ultra or micro chenille I've gone away from it. Try using ostrich plumes. Tie in about 4 strands and spin it together then wrap. It has the same qualities as chenille with more movement on your bug.
