Guest Report post Posted October 22, 2009 Great shots Jim. I normally go to Alamosa and Monte Vista to see the cranes. I don't think I have seen any on the east side of the mountains. Jim

GMac209 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2009 We see them quite often in Northern Ontario - well actually hear them first- if you watch them for any length of time you have to wonder that they ever make as far south as you saw them. They certainly don't seem to have a specific direction in mind
jimk 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2009 GMac - they were flying in circles searching for a thermal to ride. There were three groups of them flying over, when the largest group found a thermal the other two groups joined them. It's fun to watch but like Jim said, it's not a very common sight on this side of the mountains. These birds are most likely on their way to New Mexico and/or Texas.
