iso18 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2010 About 5 months ago i tied up about 5 dozen #30 tiemco 518 midges.About half dry and the other half bead head nymphs.I have never even fished them or gotten them wet. They were in my vest 2 times while fishing but i haven't used the beadheads yet.So i get the pill weekly container i keep them in to do a inventory on what i might need to tie.to my surprise some of the beadheaded ones had surface rust on them.None of the dries had any rust.what would cause this?Is there anything i can do to stop them from rusting further. As I stated i keep them in one of those weekly pill containers.Anything i can do to get the surface rust off? thanx in advance shane
FishyboY 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2010 you could have been storing them with a few wet flies.

Arkansas Mike 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2010 Silica packets are the desiccants you find packed in vitamins, electronics, etc. They maintain dryness within packages/containers. I just save any that I find, but you can purchase them (just run a Google search), or you might check your local pharmacy or Radio Shack...they may give you some. I toss them in with my hooks, tying tools, etc. to prevent rust. Mike
