JJD 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Here's a tandem hook streamer with loads of action I cooked up for bass down here in Florida. Trailer hook is a short shank hook with a deer hair head, tied in reverse (thunder creek-style). It is relatively free from fouling. I used dacron backing twisted tight, pulled at the mid-point, and allowed to twist upon itself. The dacron was then coated with pliobond and allowed to dry which gives a stiff, but flexible connector. Trailer: short-shank, reverse deerhair "ball" Tail: 4-6 long saddles, over which is a collar of fox, then scattered ostrich plumes. Head: relatively loose deerhair, trimmed in a wide cone. Overall length about 7 inches, but tossable with a 7-weight - no problem. I could do an SBS if anyone's interested. John

bad fish rising 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 very inovated ive been working on a few swing flys trying to get the rear hook to move more on its own so this tail concept might be something to try i would so try your pattern just the way it is for fall stealhead
JJD 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Thanks guys. I thought the combination of the buoyancy of the deer hair combined with it's bulk would would give some nice action. It might move a little more if the hook was cut off of the trailer. I'll try to put together a step-by-step this weekend.
deeky 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 I like it - it's a little something different, especially the trailer hook. It should push a lot of water. I wouldn't cut the point off the trailer. I think you would lose a lot of short strikers. Deeky
