jmo 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2010 I've just received a Nor-vise. And while it's clearly a neatly designed, quality machined device, I'm having difficulty with rotating the thread back past the point where the hook point protrudes beyond the jaws. I've also a similar difficulty wrapping thread back to the hook bend, as in when tying on a trailing shuck. Suggestions? Thanks... John

John Hi John, I unfortunatly am not lucky enough to own a Nor-vise however I know that Mr Norm Norlander Has videos up on youtube. Just type in Nor-Vise. They have great tips and tricks to use your nor-vise for. The problem with the thread getting caught on the hook is easily avoided, simply hold your bobin inbetween the hook and hook point. Mr Norlanders videos will be a better help than I am... Best Regards ~David

flytire 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 i would think there will be times you will have to stop using the rotary function of the vise and actually have to manually wrap things like thread to the bend of the hook or even down the bend of the hook
Panama Red 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2010 It's pretty simple.. when you get to the point of the hook, place your bobin paralell with the hook and cintinue to wind past the hook point down the bend. The videos are a big help, all can be found on you tube. dave
