notenuftoys 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2010 I have a problem, and I hope the collective wisdom of the forum can help me. I ended up with tungsten and brass beads mixed up. Any ideas how to tell the difference? These are the little beads - 3/32 and 5/64 - so I'm not sure weighing them is an option. I finally got a nice storage solution, and I was splitting them by size, color and material when I discovered the problem.
Mickalo 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2010 Tungsten beads should be a bit heavier then a brass bead and brass beads are a softer material, less dense, then tungsten. Take a punch or similar tool and scratch or lightly punch the bead, a brass bead will deform allot easier the a tungsten bead. Plus I thing a tungsten bead will sink faster then the equivalent size brass bead. Hope this helps, Mike
day5 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2010 Drop them on the table. The tungsten dosent bounce as well. Often the beads have a slightly different look. Often it is in the drilled out part.
