wanderingmonk 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2013 tried copying a pattern I saw on a blog from Scotland....they called it a shrimp, or cascade...I made it on a double from AO Feathers...used some buffalo mop for the body dubbing(fur on their forehead)...elk and moose mane for the tail, with a little rooster hackle tip too...Mule Deer fur for the hair wing and a small rooster hackle in front... I really like the way moose mane curls ...it seems to do it more when you tie off tight. I am going to try this with a few different colors too...blue and red...for sunny days...but today its pretty dreary outside, this tie matches the weather today perfect... Piker20 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2013 The shrimp is the style of fly and that is a good looking one you've tied. The cascade generally refers to a fly tied in yellow, orange, red. So you can find cascade shrimps, cascade templedogs, cascade tubes etc. orange and yellows work very well in our peaty stained waters so cascades are very popular in every form. Piker20 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2013 They work well in lots of shades. Check some of the flies on helmsdale tackle shop for good combos and patterns.
